"There's a reason folks call me crazy." - Legion
Who would've thought that Legion would have been as fun, powerful, insane, or impactful as he was in the last 24 hours? Not I. Not many. But here we are, in a whole new world of Legion's insane chaos. Location augmentations, all of the floods, ALL OF THE SQUIRRELS...it's insane. And, to be frank, I'm all for it.
Now I can see why having him at a 4-power cost would've been truly scary. Imagine the earlier potential for extra power. Build-your-own-TVA. Lane lockdowns. It would've led to the nerf hammer and community uproar. Especially at a Series 4 price point, he's a card that I feel many people will obtain very quickly after watching his impact in both ranked and conquest modes.
As new cards and new decks come out on Day One, I compile a few select decks from the Snap.fan community that I think are worth showcasing and are worthy of much more playing and/or testing for Day Two. If you'd like your deck showcased, just build one here in the Snap.fan Deck Builder! After 24 hours, I go through play rates, win rates, cube rates, successful synergies, unique synergies, online content and more and pick out five decks that I think are worth talking more about here in our Deck Showcase.
With that said, here are five decks I think are worth highlighting after 24-hours of Legion:
#6 - Legion Destroy - DmoneyGames
- This deck seems to be helping with some Conquest Tickets right from the get-go. Featuring synergies reminiscent of Destroy and Thanos Bounce, this deck uses some new features to let Legion shine solo on turn 5. Phoenix Force is used more similarly to a Hulkbuster as a moveable buff after Killmonger or Carnage ticks down Death's power tally. The combination of control and turn 5/6 ramp makes this deck a fun variant if you enjoy either Thanos or Destroy lists as your go-to archetype. It's more of a "just add Legion" list, but it has results.
#5 - Legion - MOLT
- With the rise of Ongoing popularity in the meta, seeing a deck that features strong Ongoing power doesn't surprise me. Molt navigates this deck with a few strong win-conditions in play: Onslaught to ramp up either (or both) Darkhawk and Klaw; Psylocke to help get another 5-cost card out sooner; Cosmo and Shang-Chi for stellar turn 6 defense; and then there's Jeff. Legion plays as mainly a strategic counter to the rise of Magik meta to either expedite the game back to 6 turns, or help ensure it goes to 7 by making all lanes Limbo. It's a fun deck that rests right on either good location RNG or Magik being played to create a Legion win condition.
#4 - Anti Legion Legion - Revis
- Revis is right. Legion is not a meme. He appears to have more of a presence in today's current meta of Magik/Limbo control since the recent change to Magik. However, his stat line of 5/8 is nothing to sneeze at. It fits perfectly into the "Good Cards" stat line list, and that's what Revis features here. Strong cards that end with power ranges between 5-8 in multitude make it a deck safe for conquest because you can diversify your power safely. The inclusion of Snowguard in the deck brings the safety of a quick final turn location negation and a third effect to appear if played synergistically with Legion. This combo is one to look out for in the future.
#3 - 7egion, the Guarantee - ChaosPro
- The originator of this deck, ChaosPro, showcases one of the best uses for Legion, in my opinion: She-Naut. Playing into the turn lines of T5-Legion, T6-Skip, and T7-Infinaut/SheHulk feeds well with this deck as it looks to grow organic power via Sunspot and Nebula. Protect them with armor and then ramp up some more SheHulks with Moongirl, and you've got one solid swing on turn 5 with a guaranteed limbo thanks to Legion. I think this play line and stat strategy is one to watch, as we recently watched another She-Naut style deck make it to the finals of this past weekend's Battle Arena.
#2 - Bravo Legion - Zoom
- Our first Spanish-speaking creator to make the list, Zoom, revisits the Ongoing synergies by plopping Legion into a massive Ongoing Thanos Control List. Multiple 5-cost cards can drop again between the Psylocke/Time Stone ramping in this deck, which feeds well into helping guarantee either a solid Ongoing ramp with Blue Marvel and Klaw or a lockdown mechanic using cards like Legion, Professor X or even Cosmo. I think this deck screams conquest and tournaments and is an incredibly flexible deck to play with.
#1 - Legion Lockdown - King Venom
- Okay, call me a favoritist this week all you want, but I am very happy to have a Brazilian content creator in the number 1 spot this week with Legion (for those who don't know, I'm an American but live in Brazil). With the Spotlights bringing High Evolutionary & Legion in the same week (plus Iron Lad last week), this is a deck list that many players may find quickly attainable and will be glad they could play immediately. Showcasing the ability to learn self-control, this deck rewards playing below the curve with several different mechanics.
- Storm and Legion are the combination that shook up the ladder this week after the announcement from Glenn Jones on the day before Legion dropped, confirming the synergy functionality. This led to lockdown becoming the archetype to look out for over the last 24 hours. Whether it be Storm, Legion, Professor X, or Spider-Man, snagging a lane from your opponent is incredibly easy here when paired with passive power differentiation from cards like Sunspot, Nebula, and Evolved Cyclops.
- Legion & Professor X = Have Jeff the Baby Land Shark at hand. But, if you don't have one, swapping in a Psylocke would be a stable solution for ramping options.
PARABÉNS King Venom!
