11-29 Variants, Balance Changes, and Bundles!

First, I'd like to reference the tier list for token cards I wrote last week. I know some people were unhappy with my Titania at S-tier, but I still think she's gonna be awesome, and as such, I am snap buying her. I'll take the hit if I'm wrong, so you don't have to! I'll probably write a full article if she lives up to my expectations, and just mention in passing if I end up wrong.

For everyone, I'd suggest not buying things unless you really want to play them. I think it is not a hot take at all that Bast is the most competitive option moving forward right now.

Card Nerfs

  • Angela : [2/1] to [2/0]
  • Destroyer : [6/16] to [6/15]
  • Mysterio : [2/5] to [2/4]
  • Sera : [5/5] to [5/4]
  • Onslaught : Stacking is now additive instead of exponential with other similar effects.

These are all fine changes - good even because I don't think any went overboard. Onslaught should make combo decks not destroy the game and make both players unable to requeue, which is great.

Destroyer losing 1 power is fine - he was in a top tier deck.

Sera and Angela both losing 1 power is a bit expected. That said, the upcoming Bast/Sera/Negative deck almost doesn't care.

Finally, Mysterio. This is a bit of an odd 1. If you look at my tier list article linked above, the others were acknowledged as possibilities. Mysterio at [2/4] makes him not just jammable in every deck for solid stats + confusion, but rather, we explicitly need a benefit to wanting the clones, be that destruction (such as Carnage), buffs (such as Patriot or Blue Marvel), or something else (Bishop or Lockjaw).

There were no buffs...this one is a bit odd, in my mind, There are a lot of cards that are quite under-value.

NOW, store/bundles.

There is a new bundle currently in the store:

cyberholiday

This is honestly a great deal, assuming you have the gold or want to spend the money. To start, do note that if you simply spend gold on credits, 7500 gold would turn into 9375 credits. With 9500 being more than that, again, this is a good deal. It also ups the amount of credits that one can purchase, as the daily limit was, in fact, a real limit. Add on the 3000 collectors tokens and it's already amazing - then a variant, avatar, and boosters to go with it, and ya, it's a solid buy.

THAT SAID, there are more bundles that are upcoming (from the datamine) as follows:

  • Hearts Wild (Dec 8 - Dec 17) - Cost unknown:: 1500 credits, Rogue Variant and avatar, Gambit Variant and avatar.
  • Starlit Connection (Dec 31 - Jan 7) - Cost unknown:: 4000 credits, Angela Variant and avatar, Sera Variant and avatar.
  • Winter Wonderland (Dec 21 - Jan 3) Cost 6000 gold:: 8000 credits, 2000 Collector Tokens, 100 Sunspot boosters, "Tacos After This?" Title, Sunspot Variant and avatar.
  • Shielded Heart (Dec 17 - Dec 24) Cost 5000 gold:: 3000 credits, Invisible Woman Variant and avatar, Mr. Fantastic Variant and avatar, Dr. Doom Variant and avatar.
  • Line in the Sand (Dec 24 - Dec 31) Cost unknown:: 500 credits, Spider Man Variant and avatar, Sandman Variant and avatar.

The unknown cost bundles are assumed to perhaps be cash purchase only, but really we do not know.

Spoiler Information

Token Shop Variants (either in game, or upcoming in theory):

  • Thor
  • Gamora
  • Ghost Rider
  • Namor
  • Storm
  • Black Panther

New Locations:

(These will likely be the featured locations after the last set finishes on December 7)

  • Altar of Death - When you play a card here, destroy it to get +2 Energy next turn.
  • Collapsed Mine - Fill this location with Rocks. Skip a turn to destroy your Rocks.
  • Eternity Range - After turn 3, add a Rock to the losing player's side.
  • Plunder Castle - Only cards that cost 6 can be played here.
  • Rickety Bridge - After each turn, if there is more than one card here, destroy them.

And there were a ton of other variants added, I think this link should work...
