Developer Update - Arachnid Anarchy Season

We still don’t have Beyond the Spider-Verse but we have the next best thing. Be welcome spider-people for our brand new season as we sling into Arachnid Anarchy! The Spider-Verse has officially crashed into MARVEL SNAP, bringing a web of wild abilities, trickster moves, and more tangled power plays than ever before. Grab your mask, choose your cannon event, and prepare for some serious spider shenanigans.

Season Pass

SNAP_1714357180_JonP_S42_RewardsSpotlight_EN_1920x1080

This season’s swinging in with style and attitude! Pick up the Premium or Super Premium Season Pass at shop.marvelsnap.com to claim a nice bonus reward that includes the Black Cat Ejikure Variant and 3 White Fire Borders!

And who’s leading this season’s street-level uprising? None other than our punkest hero yet.

Series 5 - Premium Pass

Spider-Punk
Moveable once. When this moves to a location, steal 2 Power from the highest-Power enemy there.

Turn up the volume for Spider-Punk. He’s a 3-Cost, 3-Power card that you can move once. Also, whenever he moves to a new location, he steals 2 Power from the highest-Power enemy card there. Talk about a power chord! Hobie Brown’s not here to play nice. Are move decks looking for a new guitarist? I hope so, because he’s about to shred.

Series 5 - Super Premium Pass or Snap Packs

Man-Spider
On Reveal: Merge the last card you played into this. When this merges, double its Power.

But that’s not the only nightmare swinging in this season. Meet Man-Spider, a 5-Cost, 1-Power monstrosity born straight from Peter Parker’s worst mutation. When revealed, he merges the last card you played into him, and whenever it merges, double its power. Imagine merging this with a bruiser like Typhoid Mary. Suddenly. Maybe we could even merge some more with cards like Agony and Hulkbuster.

Snap Packs Series 5

Superior Spider-Man
At the start of each turn, you get +1 Energy if you have any cards with increased Power in play.

If you think Peter is a good Spider-Man, you haven’t met Superior Spider-Man. This 3-Cost, 4-Power genius-turned-arrogant antihero gives you +1 Energy at the start of each turn if you have any cards with increased Power in play. Easy ramp? Yes, please. Who’s going to be partners in crime with Otto Octavius? His conditions can easily be met with an early play of Silver Sable or Medusa. Is this the new best ramp card?

Ezekiel Sims
After you play a card with higher Power here, give this +2 Power and move this to another location.

Enter Ezekiel Sims, the spider-mentor nobody saw coming(he was on Madame Web but literally no one saw that). A 2-Cost, 2-Power card that leaps across the board whenever someone stronger shows up. After you play a card with higher Power at his location, he gains +2 Power and swings to another spot. You’ll need a deck full of some heavy hitters to get the most out of this guy. I imagine that he can easily get up to 10 power from game to game if you play your cards right.

Spider-Man Noir
On Reveal: Set the top character of your deck's Power to 8. If your other cards in play cost exactly 8 total, add it here. (0/8)

Spider-Man Noir is as difficult to play as solving a Rubik’s Cube if you can only see in black and white. A 4-Cost, 6-Power detective who only operates when the math is perfect. On Reveal: if your other cards in play total exactly 8 Energy in cost, he pulls the top card of your deck into his location and sets its Power to 8. How in the sacred web are we supposed to make this work? We can’t play him on turn 4 even if we follow a perfect curve of 1,2, and 3. So what are we supposed to solve this crime of a card? If you find out, let me know!

Prowler
On Reveal: Add 2 Thief’s Tools to your hand. Set their Costs to 0 if a card moved last turn.

Next up, The Prowler sneaks into play. A 3-Cost, 4-Power card that adds two Thief’s Tools to your hand on reveal, and if a card moved last turn, they cost 0! Is he the 3-Cost equivalent of Kate Bishop? Let’s look at the tools to decide:

Remote Mines
On Reveal: Afflict the 2 highest-Power enemy cards here with -2 Power.
Vibro-Shock Gauntlets
On Reveal: Give your highest-Power card here +2 Power. You get +1 Energy next turn.
Flight Harness
On Reveal: Give your highest-Power card here +1 Power and move it to the right.

Thankfully, Uncle Aaron is a much better Tools expert than a Beat Producer. Those Tools don’t seem insane but having two ability cards at a potential of no cost would be absolutely bonkers for both Hitmonkey and Werewolf By Night. I’d say that the Prowler and his Tools are a real menace.

Snap Packs Series 4

SNAP_1790714306_S42_Series4_SeasonalSnapPack_1920x1080

Web Sling
On Reveal: Next turn, one of your cards here is Moveable and gets +1 Power when it moves. (your choice)

We’re gonna need a couple hundred more to cross NY. Web Sling is a 1-Cost skill card that lets you move one of your cards away from its location next turn. It's a spell that mimics Madame Web effect for a turn. This is an amazing card and better than Iron Fist in most cases.

Chameleon
On Reveal: Copy the text of another card here you revealed this turn.

The master of disguise, after Mystique… and Copycat. Chameleon is a 3-Cost, 3-Power card that copies the text of another card you revealed at the same location that turn. You can double your On Reveals, stack powerful abilities, or even mimic key plays. His “same turn” obligation limits what we can copy but anything up to 4-cost is fair game. Also, we could possibly do some 6-Costed copy with the help of Wave or some extra energy. Any strats popping to mind?

Deafening Chord
On Reveal: Remove the text of a 3-Cost or lower enemy character here.

Turn the volume up to 11! Deafening Chord is a 1-Cost skill that afflicts an enemy card costing 3 or less with -1 Power and removes its text. Silencing your foes while weakening them? That’s punk rock at its finest. This card’s low cost and disruption potential make it a real pain for combo-heavy decks. Is this a better Red Guardian?

Game Modes Series 4

Hydro-Man
On Reveal: Set the Cost of EACH deck's top card to 1.

Lastly, meet the real Wet Bandit himself, Hydro-Man. A 5-Cost, 8-Power card that sets the cost of each deck’s top card to 1. That’s right, everyone’s going to feel the splash. This is for sure going into my Pixie deck together with my Mobius so that I’m the only one in the splash zone. I guess any deck featuring Mobius would be cool.

Game Modes

High_Voltage

High Voltage is coming back for another weekend edition. This four day event will be another purely cosmetic event, with no unlockable cards. The banned list is rotating back to the original banned list, but more experimentation is coming! Check it out from November 14-18th at server reset.

Sanctum

Sanctum Showdown returns! Your favorite mind-bending location dominating limited time game mode is back November 24th - December 1st at the daily reset. This event features exciting new rewards including the brand new Series 4 card, Hydro-Man. The Sanctum shop will remain open for two full days at the conclusion of the event.

New Locations

Moshpit-and-Parker-Industries

End of Turn: Give front-row cards here +1 Power.
+2 Energy this turn, but you can only play 1 card.

Free double Electro’s for one turn and a location that is insane with Captain Carter? I quite like these and I’m happy to see them added to the roster.

Stay tuned for my Location Lowdown featured article, where I’ll sling you across those locations and to get the most out of them on your climb.

Conclusion

From power-stealing punks to genetically warped nightmares, Arachnid Anarchy is shaping up to be one of the wildest seasons yet even if we can’t get our eyes on the movie just yet. This web is only getting more tangled. Personally, I can’t wait to jam with Prowler and pull off some ruffian synergy with my favorite cards. But what about you? Which of these cards has you hyped to hit the rooftops? Drop your thoughts below and let’s get tangled in the discussion!

Giveaway!

Good news, web-heads! Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man here, and guess what? I’ve got a Pax bundle swinging your way! One lucky hero (or villain, I don’t judge) will snag it!

All you gotta do is drop a comment below telling me about your favorite spider-person and why you like them so much. It doesn’t even need to be an actual person, like Spiders-Man.

Oh, and don’t forget your Discord username so I can web-shoot the code straight to you. I’ll pick a winner this Friday—just in time for you to tackle those weekend missions like a true superhero. Remember, With great power comes great responsibility!
