Building a deck that benefits you by giving your opponent your cards? Hmm...you have my interest. When Machineworld appears in Ranked or Conquest, I never underestimate the power of a well-timed hand-clog or the idea of giving them a card that would benefit only me if they decided to play it. So, how can we mix its "spice" into multiple archetpyes? Let's look at the key synergy cards...
The Featured Location from August 5th, 2023 at 11pm EST to August 6th, 2023 at 11pm EST is Machineworld. As a featured location, it will have a 50% chance to appear in any ladder match. Now you must make a choice:
- Build INTO It
- Build AROUND It
- Ignore it
How to Build INTO it
Quinjet
Ongoing: Cards that didn't start in your deck cost 1 less. (minimum 1)
The Collector
When a card enters your hand from anywhere (except your deck),
+1 Power.
Master Mold
On Reveal: Add 2 Sentinel to your opponent's hand.
Cosmo
Ongoing: On Reveal abilities won't happen here.
Ronan the Accuser
Ongoing: +2 Power for each card in your opponent's hand.
Devil Dinosaur
Ongoing: +2 Power for each card in your hand.
- In my mind, there are two packages that make the most sense today. Devil Dino & Ronan.
- The Devil Dinosaur package tallies in Quinjet, The Collector & card generator friends to ramp up the Dino's power, regardless of playing the newly acquired random toons.
- The Ronan package focuses on reaping the benefits of giving your opponent cards from Machineworld, Maximus, Master Mold, etc.
- And then there is Cosmo...who's essentially there to protect all of them.
How to Build AROUND it
Colleen Wing
On Reveal: Discard the lowest-cost card from your hand.
Lady Sif
On Reveal: Discard the highest-cost card from your hand.
Hellcow
On Reveal: Discard 2 cards from your hand.
- To me, just discard it! Using the more focused discarders (Lady Sif & Colleen Wing) should help make smarter discard decisions during this location's featured time. So, Using them plus Hellcow to take one aggressive early chunk discard should give great backuip to keeping the hand free!
When all else fails, destroy it.
Scarlet Witch
On Reveal: Replace this location with a new one.
Magik
On Reveal: Replace this location with 'Limbo'. Doesn't work
after turn 5.
Storm
On Reveal: Flood this location. Next turn is the last turn cards can
be played here.
Rhino
On Reveal: Ruin this location. (remove its ability)
Legion
On Reveal: Replace each other location with this one.
- Running either Scarlet Witch, Magik, Storm, Rhino or Legion will switch the location, therefore eliminating the ability entirely.
Featured Deck - RoNoCo
- Okay, yes, I may have cheated a little in the suggestions of BUILD INTO it earlier. Why? Because this deck screams benefit with gaining extra cards into both players' hands.
- Mixing in the combination of clog mechanics with Baron Mordo & Master Mold by playing them both INTO Machineworld. Clog the hand and give them things that will positively clog yours!
- Keep what they give YOU with Quinjet and be ready to Mystique either of your 5-cost power houses on 5, followed by Mystique and either Maximus (for Ronan) or Agent Coulson (for Dino)!
- It's a simple deck. Ramp on turn 5 & 6. And pray for no Wave (the secret to bonus play AROUND it recommendation if you made it to this part of the Article!).
