We've got a special surprise peek at some of Marvel Snap's upcoming February content for you! Thanks to our tenacious data miners, we've uncovered the names and abilities of the cards expected to be released in the February season! The season is based on the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World movie, slated for a February 14th release. Before we dive in, remember that these are unofficial and preliminary. We uncovered them earlier than usual, so they are especially subject to change. We don't currently know any of the numbers involved—Cost, Power, or in-text numbers. The wording is based on how their abilities are described in the code and will change before release.
Sam Wilson
At the start of the game, add Cap’s Shield to a random location.
Ongoing: You can move Cap’s Shield.
We're pretty sure Sam will be the season pass card. It makes sense since he is the star of the upcoming movie and the most well-known character. The card has a novel effect; this will be the first time we have a card that adds something directly to the board at the beginning of the game. This continues Second Dinner's project of using alternative versions of characters we already have in the game, as we'll still have Sam Wilson as Falcon in the game alongside this card.
Cap’s Shield
Ongoing: This card can't be destroyed.
Add +X power to your Captain when this moves to the Captain’s location.
This is what makes Sam interesting. You can buff your Sam Wilson by moving the shield to his location. I am also assuming the shield will work with Sam and the Captain America card we already have in the game. Finally, Steve Rogers could be powerful in Snap! It seems likely since both Sam and the Shield have Ongoing abilities that lend synergy with Captain America.
Batroc the Leaper
Whenever a card moves, this moves with it and gains +X power.(Once per turn)
Finally, we're getting a Batroc card! He should have come along with Gwenpool in a Gwenpool-themed season, but it's nice to get the jumping meme-lord now. Also, is Batroc going to appear in the upcoming movie? It feels unlikely, so this may be a free or alternative acquisition card. Batroc could be quite powerful when combined with Kraven. What do we think the numbers might be on Batroc? 2/1 +2 would feel pretty powerful.
Cobra
You can only play this where your opponent has 1 card.
Cobra will presumably be one of the villains of the upcoming movie. Given his ability, I think it's safe to assume he'll be a big boy in the same vein as Cull Obsidian as a 4 or 5-cost card with 10+ power.
Diamondback
Opponent's cards at this location that lose power lose an additional -X power.
Our second Serpent Society member makes an intriguing addition to the affliction archetype. I can't wait to get my hands on this one.
Joaquin Torres
Ongoing: The On Reveal abilities of your X-Cost cards at this location trigger twice.
Just as Sam Wilson took on the mantle of Captain America, Joaquin Torres took over as the new Falcon. I guess Joaquin enables an extra trigger on 1-Cost cards since he would then work in bounce decks alongside Falcon. He would make sense as a 2 or 3-cost card.
Redwing
On Reveal: Return one of your X-Cost cards to your hand and give it +X Power.
Redwing is Sam Wilson’s pet falcon, and his ability is a mini version of the Falcon card already in Snap. It would be fun if he bounced a 2 or 3-Cost card to hand, but I wouldn't be surprised if he acted as an additional way to bounce 1-Cost cards to hand. If he does bounce 1-Cost cards to hand, getting him as another 0-Cost card at perhaps 0/1 or 0/0 could be intriguing.
Thaddeus Ross
Whenever your opponent ends their turn with unspent energy, draw a card with X or more power.
Initially, we thought Thaddeus might transform into Red Hulk like the upcoming Bruce Banner card becomes the Hulk. It seems that the design was abandoned in favor of one of the first draw cards we've had in quite some time. If I had to guess, it would make the most sense for him to draw a 10+ power card. Pending the numbers, this could potentially be an incredibly powerful card. I'm guessing he will have a high cost and low power to compensate for that.
Subject to Change
Remember that in the past few seasons, we've found cards that seemed like thematic fits for a season that never came out (for example, Tombstone, Lasher, and Laufey). So don't be surprised if we don't get all 7 of these cards. We'll likely get one through something like High Voltage or Deadpool's Diner. Also, it seems relevant that so much of what was in the Deadpool & Wolverine appeared in Snap even before it came out (Handsomepool reacts as one example), so Second Dinner has some advanced access to upcoming Marvel Media. In other words, there could be some minor spoilers for the upcoming movie among these cards.
Additional Future Features
We have also seen data that suggests another new feature could launch as soon as January(though it could also be as late as february): Super Premium. With the Super Premium Season Pass, you might receive multiple card backs and series 5 cards (whether this is last month's cards/backs or extra remains to be seen). As soon as we get any additional information regarding this and other upcoming features, like Character Mastery(which has a few strings but not expecting it yet), we’ll be here with information and analysis.
Edit - I had originally thought December, but after seeing a regular Premium+ asset for december Im adjusting my prediction
Final Thoughts
The season looks fun, and there are some novel and interesting abilities. It feels like a mix of help for bounce and some help for big card archetypes. It sure will be fun to toss Cap's Shield back and forth! Let me know which cards you're thinking of picking up and what you think the numbers on some of those should be.
