Cards/Decks
Scosco23
Aug 06, 25

August is bringing four brand new Series 4 cards, including one card I think will be one of the best of the month! I'll tell you how to get them and which cards to play them with!

Red Shift
On Reveal: Discard the leftmost card in your hand to add a random card with the same Cost to your hand.

Who is Red Shift?

A more obscure Herald of Galactus who can open dimensional rifts and fought with the other Heralds against the Annihilation Wave.

How to get it:

Starting August 5th, from the Seasonal Series 4 Snap Pack for 2500 Tokens or from the rotating Seasonal Series 4 Spotlight for 3000 Tokens.

How good is Red Shift?

Targeted Discard is always good! Targeted Discard that can specifically hit Agatha is even better and he could even get her nerfed. I think he'll have a place in traditional Discard decks as well, but even if he doesn't, he'll be solid with Agatha and Hela. If I had to choose one card from this season that I believe will still be seeing play three months from now, it would probably be Red Shift.

Cards to play with Red Shift

Hela
On Reveal: For each different Cost among them, resurrect a card you discarded to a random location.
Agatha Harkness
Game Start: Draw Agatha. She controls your cards on even turns.
Proxima Midnight
When Discarded: This jumps to your lowest-Power location. (that isn't full)
The Collector
When a card enters your hand from anywhere (except your deck), +1 Power.

Terrax the Tamer
On Reveal: For each location, shuffle a Rock into the losing player's deck.

Who is Terrax?

The merciless warlord Tyros the Terrible was transformed into Terrax the Tamer by Galactus’ power cosmic. He has total control over geological structures and was bloodthirsty enough to be Galactus Herald, but was constantly trying to betray his master.

How to get it:

Starting August 5th, from the Seasonal Series 4 Snap Pack for 2500 Tokens or from the rotating Seasonal Series 4 Spotlight for 3000 Tokens.

How Good is Terrax?

Adding two rocks to your opponents deck will be quite easy and getting three will be entirely possible for decks that build around it. Terrax is an interesting mix of priority payoff and Darkhawk enabler and he'll be the keystone in a deck that combines the two. He's being underrated a bit because Darkhawk hasn't been especially strong lately, but it's still a valid archetype.

Cards to play with Terrax

Darkhawk
Ongoing: +2 Power for each card in your opponent's deck.
Cassandra Nova
On Reveal: Steal 1 Power from each card in your opponent's deck.
Black Cat
End of Turn: Discard this from your hand.
Lizard
Ongoing: -4 Power if your opponent has 4 cards here.
Squirrel Girl
On Reveal: Add a 1-Power Squirrel to each other location.

Prio Hawk

Air-Walker
When Destroyed: Replace this with a 4-Cost card from your hand or deck.

Who is Air-Walker?

Gabriel Lan was a member of the Nova Corps before agreeing to become the Herald that followed the Silver Surfer. Galactus liked him so much, he made a robot version of him after he died.

How to get it:

High Voltage! High Voltage will be available from August 21-28. Air-Walker will be available in Snap Packs from September 21st (unconfirmed).

How good is Air-Walker?

Pulling out a key 4-Cost card and thinning your deck are both quite powerful effects, but I'm not sure the perfect package for Air-Walker exists yet. Kid Omega gives us an easy way to use him to cheat out a 4-Cost card, but you're not going to add the pair of them to your deck to do just that without additional synergy. There are probably some outside-the-box combos with Air-Walker, but I'm not convinced they'll be worth the effort and deck slots.

Cards to play with Air-Walker

Kid Omega
Activate: Destroy the next card you play this turn to gain its Power.
Phoenix Force
On Reveal: Revive one of your destroyed cards and merge this into it. It gains Moveable.
Wiccan
On Reveal: If you've spent all your Energy on previous turns, +2 Max Energy.
Wong
Ongoing: Your On Reveal abilities here repeat.
Shang-Chi
On Reveal: Destroy an enemy card here that has 10 or more Power.
Galacta
Each turn, the first card you play at another location reveals with +2 Power.
Gwenpool
On Reveal: Pick a random character in your hand 3 times. Give +2 Power each time.
Absorbing Man
On Reveal: If the last card you played has an On Reveal, copy its text. (if able)
Symbiote Spider-Man
Activate: Merge your lowest-Cost card here into this. Copy its text like it just revealed.
Attuma
End of Turn: Destroy one of your cards here with less Power.

Rod Walk

Firelord
On Reveal: Revive one of your discarded or destroyed 3-Cost cards here.

Who is Firelord?

Pyreus Kril was also a member of the Nova Corps and served under Gabriel Lan. He went looking for his friend, but Air-Walker had already died by the time he caught up to Galactus, who he turned into his Herald in exchange for the truth about what happened to Gabriel. Given that Air-Walker is continually getting destroyed and coming back as a robot, this is a lovely bit of top down design from Second Dinner.

How to get it:

Second Dinner is trying out direct-to-series 4 releases outside of just the first week of the season. Firelord will be available starting August 12th, from the Seasonal Series 4 Snap Pack for 2500 Tokens or from the rotating Seasonal Series 4 Spotlight for 3000 Tokens.

How good is Firelord?

4-Cost makes him a little clunky, but you can use him to revive Venom or in a chain with Air-Walker who releases in High Voltage the same week.

Cards to play with Firelord

Venom
On Reveal: Destroy your other cards here. Add their Power to this card.
Cassandra Nova
On Reveal: Steal 1 Power from each card in your opponent's deck.
Sage
On Reveal: +2 Power for each different Power among all other cards here.
Gambit
On Reveal: Discard a card from your hand to destroy a random enemy card.
Air-Walker
When Destroyed: Replace this with a 4-Cost card from your hand or deck.

All Fire

Surprisingly, the best way to play Air-Walker and Fire Lord may be separate, despite their obvious synergy. The pair of them can be used together to create an interesting value loop or you could try them out in a Dormammu deck.

Past Series 4 Cards

Last month's Series 4 cards are also making their way to Snap Packs. It's a perfect time to grab Fantasticar since it's meta relevant and we've hit a critical mass of End of Turn cards. Mole Man just got a buff and works well with meta monster Victoria Hand and Mad Thinker… well, he's here too!

Aug 5th: Fantasticar - Seasonal Series 4 Snap Pack

Aug 21st: Mole Man - Seasonal Series 4 Snap Pack

Aug 21st: The Mad Thinker - Seasonal Series 4 Snap Pack

September 2nd: Silver Surfer: First Steps - Seasonal Series 4 Snap Pack

What Series 4 card this season are you most excited to use? Let us know down below!

Here is a PAX Bundle if you made it this far! Code: JKArS4SiLE
