Allfather, Asgard is Under Attack!
Who could be the scheming mind behind this foul assault? Is it Loki once more, weaving his mischief? Could it be Surtur heralding Ragnarok? Laufey and his Ice Giants seeking vengeance? The Dark Avengers, led by the spiteful Osborn? Or perchance Gorr, the God Butcher, intent on ending the gods? Malekith and the sinister dark elves, perhaps?
It seems we are beset by far too many foes... No matter—release the Destroyer!

Asgard Besieged - The Location
Oh hey there, glad to see you, I’m afraid I have some important news. Asgard is under attack and the Destroyer was sent to protect it. Perhaps they should consider building an enchanted armor called Protector because Destroyer doesn’t seem to be the best tool for the job.
Why should you care about the Destroyer? Because you will see him a lot on this Wednesday the 29th when Asgard Besieged debuts in the game and as a Hot Location. So you better be ready to see it in at least 50% of your games.
What a cool and unique location, huh? By the end of halftime, the winner of the location is awarded a free, no-strings-attached, fully operational Destroyer! The only catch? Triggering its earth-shattering On-Reveal effect, which destroys every card on your side of the board that isn’t at the Destroyer’s location. Insane, isn’t it? Games will turn into a delicate dance when this location shows up—so what’s the best approach when it does?
When it comes to Asgard Besieged, you’ve got two clear options:
- Fight for it to claim your Destroyer.
- Lose it on purpose and let your opponent take the enchanted armor of destruction while you focus elsewhere.
Between the two, I’d rather go for the first one. Being granted an extra 16 points of power is incredibly strong. However, you need to be extremely cautious not to clog the location. Ideally, winning the Destroyer with just two cards in Asgard Besieged is the way to go—it leaves you room to play one last card there as the game progresses.
Some Hot Locations completely shift player behavior, and this one is no exception. While it might seem risky, this could be one of those times where playing on unrevealed locations is actually a good idea. With the high chance of an unrevealed location flipping into Asgard Besieged, it’s worth setting up early to ensure you’re in a good position to claim your very own Destroyer.
Now let’s consider some cards that could help during this Hot Location event. Piloting a deck with low-cost, high-power cards can give you an edge in fighting for Asgard Besieged. Whether meta or non-meta, there are plenty of options to experiment with to secure your advantage.
Be careful, some of these cards could backfire tremendously and cost you the game.
Also, there are two standout cards that can almost guarantee victory by turn 3 when fighting for Asgard Besieged. If you have priority, Negasonic Teenage Warhead can obliterate the next card your opponent tries to play there, effectively shutting down their chance of winning the location early. On the other hand, Juggernaut is another devastating option, forcing your opponent’s cards out of the location and keeping them from contesting it.
If your deck includes at least one of these cards, securing the Destroyer becomes much easier and opens the door to dominating the game from there.
If you feel like twirling your mustache while doing your best evil laugh, the junk route might be the strategy for you. Picture this scenario: your opponent is furiously fighting for the Destroyer, committing 2 or even 3 cards to Asgard Besieged. You swoop in and complete their set with a dastardly Goblin or The Hood, delivered right to their doorstep by Viper.
This strategy not only clogs their location, preventing them from earning the Destroyer, but it also primes the location for a final-turn Shang-Chi or even a cheeky Cannonball to swing the game in your favor.
Special shoutout to The Hood in this scenario—his negative power can be easily swooped by the Destroyer’s effect, letting you capitalize on the trade-off with your powerful Demon on Asgard. Evil, clever, and devastating—what more could you ask for?
If you’re looking to pull off a crazy, jaw-dropping play, consider this: pair Fenris Wolf and Cosmo in a different location. After you take down your opponent’s Destroyer with a power-controlling Shang-Chi, Fenris Wolf brings it back to your side. While our good girl Cosmo ensures that the Destroyer’s devastating On-Reveal effect doesn’t trigger, keeping your side of the field safe. It’s definitely situational play, but when it works, it’s guaranteed to leave your opponent dumbstruck.
There is also the possibility of changing the Location. To do that, my choice would be Quake, she can place that very important location somewhere else and sweep away your opponent’s plans. However, we also have Scarlet Witch, Reality Stone and Magik that could be used before Asgard is triggered if you feel like the result will be unfavorable to you.
This is all the advice I can give you, Let me tide you over with some decks.
Asgard Besieged Decks
Asgard Mill
I’m warning you all that I’ll be playing this at first. I wanna do the Fenris Cosmo playline and I’ll play until I get it right. This deck has been proven to be great and part of this recent meta. If you don’t like Cosmo, his spot is usually covered by Cable or Lady Deathstrike. Not much mystery when piloting this, try to take your opponent’s options away from them with your cards, destroy as much as you can without ruining your gameplans to get a cheap death.
What You Gonna do With All That Junk?
Cloggers Unite! remember what I said up there on what to do? Keep that in mind when playing this. Manipulate your opponent into thinking that winning Asgard Besiege is a good idea only to clogg him up there or to take it away with Magik. Fill all his locations and see the best spot for your big guys. Cannonball is such a cube stealer in the last turn!
Malekith Bringing the Heat!
This is the deck I used to climb to infinite, it's still pretty good! Quake, my beloved, can do a fast rugpull on your opponent leaving him stranded somewhere else while you reap the benefit of having the Destroyer. We could also fight for it straight up with Maximus followed up by Red Guardian or Copycat, it will be difficult for your opponent to get more points that early. Iron Patriot is here just because he is that good, he can be replaced by any strong 2 or 1 drop.
Move (Out Of The Way)
It turns out that manipulating your opponent’s playlines is a great way to guarantee your victory over a contested location. Scream is by far your best card in this deck so try to put her on the field and trigger her effect with all your other cards. Juggernaut is the unsung hero here, he will pretty much win you a Destroyer whenever he shows up.
