Madripoor is basically what happens when you mix Vegas, Tortuga, and a crime boss’s fever dream into one lawless island. It’s the kind of place where you can grab a drink with a pirate, get pickpocketed by a ninja, and accidentally owe a debt to a warlord—all before lunch. The rich party in Hightown, the criminals run Lowtown, and if you’re lucky, you’ll make it out with your wallet, your dignity, or at least a really cool scar. And yeah I made sure to know that this time around it is an actual fictional location.

This Wednesday, the 26th, Madripoor will be our Hot Location. If for some reason you’re not busy on Sanctum Showdown, you’ll forcibly be visited by Madripoor in about half of your games.
Oh quite a simple and low impact location isn’t it? By the end of every turn, the highest-Cost card or cards get +2 power. So, basically, cheating out big cards is the way to win here. There are a few ways to do that. Let’s see our options.
Firstly, we can simply get more energy to play big cards earlier. We have Psylocke as a no-nonsense way of grabbing an extra point of energy so we can play our 4-drop a turn faster. We also could consider the always energetic Electro with his powerful effect of granting us 1 more energy at the cost of only being able to play a single card every turn. Phastos is a binary slot machine that grants you power or discount—if you’re feeling lucky, use him. Another possibility is playing Corvus, If you don’t mind the possibility of discarding 2 of your precious cards.
Another way to climb up the ranks on Madripoor would be to use high Cost cards that discount themselves, we have a selection of 6 costed gals that do just that.
Mockingbird is quite powerful and it is often easy to discount her, just play cards that didn’t start in your deck. She is often played on Zoo decks together with Squirrel Girl and Shanna to fill your board with cards that fit Mockingbird's discount condition.
She-Hulk just demands that you allow her some of your energy for a huge discount. She works quite well with Sunspot and the High Evolutionary Gang.
Sasquatch is the last of our big girls, she just needs to see you drop a ton of cards the turn before. Mysterio is the perfect play for an absurdly early Sasquatch sighting by turn 3.
I need to mention that Death is the highest cost card in Marvel Snap. If you’re able to destroy a ton of cards, she can visit Madripoor quite early and rack up a ton of extra power.
As for counters, Shang-Chi is always here to rain on your parade if you’re accumulating a ton of power, so keep that in mind and consider maybe running an Armor or Cosmo to avoid his Dragon Kick.
And huh, that's it. It isn’t a complex location so our playlines should be simple too. Let me give you some decks that are good and should be better with Madripoor.

Afterthoughts

To be honest, this is another snoozer of a location to me, I need more exciting locations! Locations that can swing the game wildly and make it unique and crazy, that's my desire. Madripoor is just a scaling location that, although, I must admit fits the flavor of a place where the strong and powerful keep ruling without control, it isn’t enough to get me excited. Maybe the next season will bring more crazy locations.
But the opinion that truly matters is yours, what are your thoughts on Madripoor? Do you have any other strategy that flew me by like a falcon? Let me know in the comments!
As always, it was a pleasure and I will catch you on the next one!
