The newest season pass card in Marvel Snap has a brand new mechanic involving positioning within locations. Will her requirements prove easy to fulfill or will organizing your board properly feel awkward?
On the Disney+ What If…? show, on an alternate Earth, when a saboteur interrupted the process of turning Steve Rogers into Captain America, Peggy Carter stepped in and took the Super Soldier serum herself. She picks up the vibranium shield made by Howard Stark and takes on the role of Captain Carter! (Is her shield the same one Captain America and later Sam Wilson use just with a new paint job? I believe it counts as the same one, but the Shield token generated by Sam Wilson isn't going to boost her in Marvel Snap!) You can also check out Peggy in the surprisingly great current TVA comic!

Boosting Captain Carter
Because Captain Carter grants her power to those behind her, buffing her has a compounding effect. You can buff her base power with cards like Agony, Forge, Galacta, and Spectrum or you can buff her with Ongoing effects like Blue Marvel. Here is a list of cards that can buff Captain Carter, including a few outside-the-box ideas and even a pair of upcoming cards that will work well with her.
Captain Carter deck-building considerations
To get the most out of Captain Carter, you need to have her in the front row in a location with a full four cards. Because she costs 4, that can prove a little tricky. To achieve it, you'll need to include enough low cost cards to play after her, cards that generate tokens on the board to fill in behind her, or cards that can move to fill the space behind her after she's played.
Low-Cost Partners
Here are some cards that you can use to optimally organize your board to put Captain Carter in the best position. You can use these to start filling a location or play then behind Peggy late to ensure you have her in a full lane.
Back fillers
These cards are great for filling in the space behind Captain Carter late in the game.
Movers
These are cards you can play out before Captain Carter, but move them behind her later. Rocket & Groot seems especially exciting here, since you can extract value in multiple ways.
Perfect Partners
Peggy has a few partners that work with her in multiple ways. These are her best friends who she shares the strongest synergies with.
Counters
There are quite a few cards that can punish Captain Carter. Beyond the obvious like Rogue and Enchantress, I think cards like Echo, Punisher, and Super Skrull are going to enjoy increased meta relevance this week.
Scosco's Day One Captain Carter decks
Spec Doom
Doom 2099 and Doctor Doom can tidily tuck cards behind Captain Carter when they're played in a turn 4, 5, 6 sequence. Alternatively we can finish with a big Spectrum to add power across the board.
Full Ongoing
This is the only list I'm including Goliath in because not everyone is getting both cards, but if you're planning on getting both he can be put into many of these lists. He's perfect in this fully Ongoing-focused deck.
Special Relationship
You can use Captain Carter to further boost cards like Brood or Sinister by putting them behind her later or you can just play a sequence of Patriot, Captain Carter, Blue Marvel, and Ultron for three big lanes.
Chester Zoo
Blink gives us a chance to get out an extra one of our higher-curve cards and if we're going to play Blink we may as well have fun and include M’Baku, who can pop back out for a pretty large power spike when he's buffed by Ka-Zar and Blue Marvel or more.
Rate Cap
Is Captain Marvel powerful enough to earn a place in a “rate deck” with low-synergy good rate cards? The ability to increase the buff she provides with Agony or Galacta makes me want to try it. Nightcrawler and Rocket & Groot can neatly slide behind Captain Carter on turn 6 and Kitty can help organize our space to maximize Captain Carter.
Hand Cap
Misery occasionally serves as a clever way to reposition our Cap in the front row, but primarily allows us to get multiple Victoria Hand targets. Moonstone can multiply Victoria Hand, Speed, or Pym arrow.
The Maze
This is a classic Storm/Legion lockdown deck with Captain Carter for extra power in the lane you need it. You can run Makkari (or swap in Jeff) to ensure something hits the board even if the board is locked and you don't have War Machine out.
Variants
Final Thoughts
Captain Carter has some powerful use-cases and is flexible enough that there are multiple decks worth trying out with her. I'm hoping she ends up having utility outside of Doom 2009 decks and Spectrum decks, but even if she doesn't she'll manage some meta penetration. As always, the season pass remains the best value in the game, though with Snap packs coming, Season Pass cards will be a little easier to acquire (albeit with a month delay still). Captain Carter will be a worthy addition to the game and your collection, but I don't expect her to be an overbearing presence like other recent season pass cards.
