Gather ye 'round, noble Snapper! Hear ye the tale of Camelot — that most legendary of kingdoms belonging to the public domain! Where chivalry is law, sorcery runneth rampant, and Round Table hosteth warriors of thy kingdom. Here dwelleth King Arthur, wielder of Excalibur and master of delegating quests to others. By his side standeth Merlin, a wizard most wise, and all the fancy knights of ye Round Table. Dragons are but mild inconvenience and time-travel events be happening every yesterday.
Back to Snap
Hear ye, Hear ye – Ahem – Hello fellow Snappers! This Wednesday the 11th, Camelot is bringing chivalry back in fashion as a Hot Location! Better to pull a sword from the nearest rock, just to be safe. Let’s raise the drawbridge and have a look:
At first glance, Camelot is as straightforward as King Arthur’s round table:
After Turn 5, set all cards here to 5 Power.
No matter their original power, every card at Camelot will be flattened into a perfectly even playing field of 5 Power for all. That means we can forgo playing cards with high power and consider only their effects. Camelot offers a unique opportunity to win a location by not playing a single point of power. Let's go on a quest in search of the Holy Grail of strategies to work in Camelot.
My best bet for Camelot would be Mister Negative. He might not have the power of a Knight but at Camelot he’ll forgo his dastardly ways of having -1 power and receiving 5 instead, while still triggering his game breaking effect. By default, this archetype runs many cards that have a low enough base power to be raised by the location.
Another fun way to take advantage of Camelot would be to introduce as many cheap movers as you can, get the buff and make them seek refuge on the other locations. We could run cards like Nightcrawler, Jeff, Mercury, Rocket & Groot, and even Samuel Wilson as the Captain for his shield. We could do something different by setting up some cards in Camelot and moving them away from the location with Helion. Can you think of a deck featuring some of these movable cards?
It’s time for the big brain, yeah that’s right. Cerebro is back in town and I’m for sure going to bring him to Camelot and a bunch of cards with 5 power to the other locations. The usual partners for Cerebro would work great in Camelot like Mystique and Luke Cage so don’t be afraid of bringing it in. We could also bring some powerful cards like Iron Man since we know we could grant him knighthood and 5 power to boot.
Do you like rug pulling your opponents out of the game? Since most people will be trying to play towards Camelot on the first few turns, they probably will neglect the other two locations. That’s the perfect opportunity for you to go all in with a Galactus deck. It will be even more shocking to your opponent if you’re not piloting an Obvious Galactus list.
Let me tide you over with some decks that even the Black Knight would be jealous of.

Afterthoughts

Salutations weary travellers! Find yourself a spot by the fire and make yourself home. What are your thoughts on this new location? Will Camelot bring a smile to your face whenever it shows up? I must say that I’m a fan of this one. It’s not disruptive and can allow for some fancy footwork and weird strategies to pop up, it will be truly a delight seeing our humblest cards get a glow up like they just pulled Excalibur from a stone. So draw your cards, rally your power and let it forever be 5.
As always, It was great to catch you here again and I’ll see you on the next one!
