What If…? Season

Different interpretations of our favorite characters and brand-new heroes join the ever-expanding roster of Marvel Snap as we dive into the multiverse! Exciting news also awaits you about the promising future of card collection.

Season Pass Variants

If you're a fan of What If...?, you won’t be disappointed by this curated selection of faithful renditions from the show. I absolutely love that Uatu variant and wish I played the card more often just to see it in action. Funnily enough, the Wacky Racer Iron Man is the result of a coordinated effort between Eduardo Mello and Pandart Studios. And Captain Carter? She looks absolutely stunning and confident!

Game Start: You can see the unrevealed locations.
Ongoing: Your total Power is doubled here.
Ongoing: Add this card's Power to your back-row cards here. (can't add to itself)

Season Cards

Captain Carter
Ongoing: Add this card's Power to your back-row cards here. (can't add to itself)

Hailing from a dimension where Peggy Carter received the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve, she does everything he does—just with a better haircut. In Marvel Snap, she’s a 4-Cost 3-Power card with an Ongoing effect that grants her power to the back-row cards at her location. A leader through and through, she thrives in the front row, leading the charge. This is the first card in Snap that truly demands strategic positioning, as placing her in the back row cuts her potency in half. Can you think of the best ways to maximize her power?

Goliath
Ongoing: +1 Power for each other Ongoing card you have in play.

No suit needed—at this point, his DNA must be at least 30% Pym Particles. Goliath hits the big time as a 2-Cost, 1-Power card with an Ongoing effect that grants him +1 Power for every other Ongoing effect on your side of the field. If left unchecked, he can grow to massive proportions! Will he rise to the challenge of reviving Doom 2099 and Spectrum?

Kahhori
On Reveal: Each card in your hand gives one of your other cards in play +1 Power.

An original character from What If...?, she has both the convoluted backstory and heroism to fit right into the Marvel Multiverse. As a card, she’s a 4-Cost, 7-Power with an On-Reveal effect that distributes +1 Power randomly to your cards on the field for each card in your hand. She pairs perfectly with card generators like S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents and Moon Girl. Any cool deck ideas coming to mind for her?

Infinity Ultron
On Reveal: Add 2 of Ultron's Stones to your hand.

Now we’re playing with real power! Infinity Ultron is a 5-Cost 6-Power card with an overwhelming On-Reveal effect: he places two of his six Ultron Infinity Stones into your hand. But these aren’t your typical Infinity Stones—check them out:

Ultron Space Stone
On Reveal: Move the lowest-Power enemy card here to the location of Infinity Ultron.
Ultron Reality Stone
On Reveal: Add a Drone here. Set its Power to Infinity Ultron's.
Ultron Time Stone
On Reveal: Put a card from your hand here.
Ultron Mind Stone
Ongoing: Your On Reveal abilities here repeat.
Ultron Soul Stone
On Reveal: For each of your full locations, give one of your cards there +3 Power.
Ultron Power Stone
On Reveal: Double Infinity Ultron’s Power.

Each one is powerful in its own right and can potentially snatch victory from your opponent, making your final turn wildly unpredictable with limitless possibilities.

Strange Supreme
Gains +2 Power from merging. End of Turn: Merge one of your created cards into this.

This guy is supreme—maybe too supreme. Strange Supreme is a 2-Cost, 2-Power card with a devilish End-of-Turn effect: he merges with one of your created cards on the field and gains +2 Power every time he merges with anything. So grab your squirrels and gather your rocks—this guy is hungry! What’s the best way to elevate him to an End-of-the-World threat?

Hydra Stomper
Ongoing: +1 Power for each time one of your cards moved this game.

Steve Rogers, even without the powers, will always find a way to be a hero. Hydra Stomper steps it up as a 2-cost 1-power with the Ongoing effect of gaining +1 Power for every movement made by your cards during the game. He’s like the Morbius of move decks—Heimdall will definitely be his best friend. Maybe everything will slide into place for move decks when he arrives.

New Locations

Multiverse locations!

Discard a card. Fill this to return it with +5 Power.
After turn 4, the winner here gets +1 Max Energy.

I love these new locations, can’t believe that they finally made a good location that discards a card from your hand.

Stay tuned for my Location Lowdown series where I tell you all about these new locations and the best ways to maneuver around all the treacherous stuff.

Snap Packs - New Card Acquisition

wi2

Certainly, the biggest piece of Snap News ever! Snap Packs will be the future of card acquisition in Marvel Snap. I’ll try to be concise and give you the gist of it because we’ll feature an article all about the new system quite soon as we get more details.

Snap Packs promise to help us Snappers with faster progression and an easier time acquiring the cards we want. It will all be centered around Tokens, with each key being converted at a rate of 3000 Tokens per key. Those Tokens will be used in a revamped Token Shop, where you’ll still find pinnable card rotations like we used to, along with the brand-new Snap Packs.

These will be the initial Snap Packs options:

  • New Series 5 Packs: These will feature all Series 5 cards from the current and previous seasons. This pool of cards will update weekly, like the Spotlight System.
  • New Series 4 Packs: These will feature all Series 4 cards from the current and two previous seasons. This pool will update every season.
  • Collector’s Packs: Separate packs for Series 3, 4, and 5, featuring every single card that isn’t in the New Series 4 or 5 packs.

The best part about the changes is that there will be no more dupes, you won’t have to worry about the worst part of the previous system. We still don’t know the exact pricing of each pack but we’ll let you know as soon as we find out.

Snap Packs are aimed to launch between April 29th and June 3rd. Keep an eye on us as we will report on the system when we get all the details. I’m excited for it, and I truly believe they’ve found the right balance this time around.

Conclusion

The dev update Spotlight was stolen by the earth-shattering news on card acquisition. It’s funny that the most exciting part of the season is programmed to arrive at the very end of it. However, there are still plenty of great things to be excited about during the season. The cards all seem awesome, the variants continue their pristine execution, and the albums keep turning necks. I’m most excited to play with Strange Supreme this time around. What about you? Which card can’t you wait to get your hands on? Any new variants you’re eager to acquire? Let me know in the comments!
