Intro
Megazord Patriot is a heavy combo deck that relies on specific cards being played on specific turns. 4 cards to be exact. In the end, we want to combine all the Zords into one big Robot that outputs a ton of power to all the other locations!
This deck will make you look weak until T7, giving you great opportunities to get 8 cube games.
1. Cards Overview
a. Key pieces
Patriot
Can't make this deck without him. Can't win a match without him. He is the main source of power.
Mystique
In the past, she was much more versatile in this deck. In the days of Nakia and Okoye, she could double as an Ironman or just another Patriot.
However, with the loss of buffs, this deck leans heavily into max power. So if you are playing Mystique, you probably are snapping and winning that match. She is intended to be played late and copy Onslaught.
Onslaught
The amplifier of the deck. He will double your Patriot's power, and also give you the ability to get a massive Antman and win that lane as well.
Do not take Waves bait if you can, play him T6 only. There isn't much value in this deck getting him out earlier. Just risking showing your hand.
Magik
The main reason we are able to pull off the combo. Play her T5 or earlier if possible from locations or enemy Waves. This enables us to get a T6 Onslaught and T7 Mystique + Patriot + Wasp + Antman/Misty Knight
b. Supporting Pieces
Adam Warlock
AW enables you to more consistently pull off the combo. Without him, games would look like this:
Magik in hand early - play her t5 and pray for Onslaught t6
Magik and Onslaught early - you get to T6, and hope you have one of either Patriot or mystique so you have a 33% chance of drawing the other
With AW, if you sneak in one draw, it makes that last draw 50% and if you can get 2, and assuming you have Magik and onslaught before t5 and 6, you will pull it off 100% of the time baring locations and opponent shinanigans
Brood / Mister Sinister
Brood allows you to get 2 vanilla bodies on the board. This is huge for this deck. What's more important is they are all in one location. The tricky part of this deck is not adding cards to your Megazord lane.
This is why Squirrel Girl , Mysterio, Debrii are not great options. They can make the curve put pressure on you to play where you don't want to. All you need is 2 vanilla bodies per lane to win.
Mister Sinister is a cheaper option than Cyclops but takes up one location more. However, he helps more with locations:
Deaths Domain: sneak a token in
Kamar Taj: can get an extra token
Muir Island: Put pressure on the opponent to play there early
Mojoworld: easier job filling this location with fewer cards played
Antman / Invisible Woman
This slot depends on the meta and how many enchantresses you are seeing. if its a lot. use IW to protect your patriot lane.
Antman has a simple, and straightforward job; be played early to preselect your patriot lane, or played last turn with Patriot+Mystique.
he will be a 25-power card and can single-handedly win you lanes or at least lose the lane to their best lane.
Wasp
Wasp has more uses than you would think. Mainly she is a T7 drop, but playing her t2 with Adam Warlock as a prayer to steal a draw is nice!
Also stuffing her in a Storm, soon-to-be flooded area ensures you get enough vanilla bodies in that lane for end game.
The Hood
A new addition to the deck. Hood replaced SG as a means to get more draws with Adam Warlock. He gives that instant power boost that forces them to counter that lane. Often can get 1-2 draws with this!
Oh and Demons are vanilla, instant synergy.
Misty Knight & Shocker
The best Vanilla/non-token cards in the game. Cost/Power is great, and they serve as cheap bodies to take on the power from our Megazord.
Some people are using Cyclops (worst power/cost) thing and even abomination/hulk. I think with this build that extra power is not worth the cost. we are all in on this Combo!
2. Ideal Play Order
You want to not top your hat off to your plans and appear weak but also get some bodies out by turn 5.
Ideal Play order:
Turn 1 - Misty Knight/Hood
If the opening lane is one that is safe to play your Patriot, don't play there. Leave it open.
Turn 2 - Shocker / Mister Sinister
On the curve and adds bodies.
if you have Brood in hand:
a. played Hood T1 : play in the other lane. Let brood be played with hood.
b. played Misty T1: play with misy. it will give you your 2 Vanillas in that lane, leave a spot for Magik, as well as a lane for brood if you Top Deck him
Turn 3 - Brood
played in the same scenario as above. Do not play Patriot here unless you are positive you won't get enchantress/ Rogue / Cosmo'ed
Turn 4 - Whatever you have that isn't combo pieces
Ideally play your hood/ misty here along with Shocker or mister sinister if you hadn't played them yet. Basically, fill up your board and prep for the combo rounds.
Turn 5 - Magik
In one of your offlanes. Note, you won't be playing anything else outside your combo other than One 1 cost after this.
Turn 6 - Onslaught dropped in combo lane. If you have Patriot + Mystique in hand, SNAP here before revealing Onslaught. If not wait to make sure you get both.
Turn 7- Mystique + Patriot + Wasp + Antman
If you were holding your Cards well, you can steal this lane, and power up your other cards. Wasp is a free play in a lane that doesn't have 2 vanillas.
You probably are wondering; "Why wasn't Adam Warlock listed?" Well in an ideal game, we don't play him. but we are rarely going to see that. so you need to feel out when you have him early if you should play him, and how. Getting the draws only matters if you really need them.
3. Snap and Retreat Strategy
Snapping - Snap only when you have or are guaranteed to get all pieces. even if you get Olympia (draw 2 cards) not wise to snap too early. a lot can go wrong. just wait until T6, and snap before showing.
Retreat - run away if they snap on you and you don't have all your pieces. If you have Onslaught, Magik and either Patriot or Mystique, your odds are much better, so up to you if you wana to gamble that extra cube to see.
4. Substitutions
Let's get it out of the way, If you don't have:
Patriot
Mystique
Magik
Dont play this deck. You can torture yourself with worse RNG and use wave, but not worth your time.
Adam Warlock - Crystal. Not a great option, but only one out there to give you a chance to draw more/ different cards
Hood - Squirrel Girl, is the only other 1 cost card to produce tokens. Best played on T7
Brood - Isn't really a good replacement for brood. I would say, if you don't have him, play the thing for power for draws with Adam Warlock or Cyclops as a cheaper Vanilla body. Debrii isn't a 1:1 swap with this deck. Don't recommend it.
Conclusion
This is my main and favorite deck. If you love big numbers, this is the deck for you. If you are not patient and don't enjoy retreating, don't play this deck.
In Experienced hands, it will have a slightly above winrate, but a high Net-Cube.
