Predictability get's you countered. Galactus decks are usually very easy to spot. Psylocke, Wave, Electro, goblin. This one still plays fairly well, but has the appearance of a control deck that is being played very badly. Then BAM, galactus.
The purpose of each card in the deck:
- Iceman: Basic disrupt card, good in this deck because you want to be ahead on turn 6 so you go first more often.
- Nova: Primary goal is to buff both Wolverine and Galactus on turn 6
- Adam Warlock: When you start the game, go heavy into one location to keep the cards flowing. You usually want to focus on one location anyways.
- Forge: Ideally you want to buff wolverine, second option, turn 5 buff galactus, last option, early buff for the location with Adam Warlock
- Psylocke: In this deck because I don't have a better option. This is not a turn 4/5 galactus deck, but it can help get hobgoblin out earlier. Replace with Green Goblin if you have it.
- Daredevil: Ensure a desirable hobgoblin placement by knowing what is going to happen turn 5.
- Wolverine: The only thing to survive T-6 galactus, best card to go with him.
- Killmonger: Handles zoo decks, sunspot, any location that gives out cards. Also good for lowering opponent strength to activate Adam Warlock more.
- Polaris: Not essential, but a fun little card that can open lanes if killmonger doesn't show. And it's a fairly high powered card.
- Crystal: If you don't get hobgoblin or galactus by turn 4, play this as a last ditch effort.
- Hobgoblin: essential to play into your open lane on turn 5. Play this on negative zones, or undesirable locations first. Most players will give up on a bad location with a negative effect and hobgoblin.
- Galactus: The whole deck is geared around getting this one in your hand T6. If you have a buffed wolverine, you have a chance. If you have a hobgoblin already out, You have a better chance. If you have both, you pretty much win.
How to play:
- If you don't know where to play, and you dont have a good hand, play mid hope crystal can save the game.
- Focus on one or two locations with the "Best effects", clear out the third one with killmonger or polaris.
- You can generally just troll people by playing badly, fill 1 location with only 7 power... who cares, galactus will fix it.
Win conditions:
- Galactus alone is usually a loss. 3 power vs ???
- Galactus + wolverine is probably a loss. 6 power vs ???
- Galactus + a lone hobgoblin is usually a win. 3 power vs -8 power + ???
- Galactus + buffed wolverine is probably a win 8/9 power versus ???
- Everything playing right, but no galactus. This can go any number of ways. Killmonger + Hobgoblin + Polaris can do some interesting things. Daredevil allows you to better judge going into t5.
At the end of the day, this deck is highly unpreditable (for now), and creates some funny situations.
