Deck guide:
TL;DR - use Zabu to get Darkhawk and Rockslide to win one lane, and Dracula discarding a 6-drop to win another.
Part 1: Darkhawk
This deck leverages the new season pass card Zabu to reduce the 4-cost cards to play more of them in a game. One of the most powerful (broken??) combos is to use Zabu (3/2: on reveal- reduce cost of 4-cost cards by 2) to play Darkhawk (4/1: ongoing: gain +2 power for each card in opp's deck) at a discount, with Rockslide (4/6: On reveal - shuffle 2 rocks into opps deck). In a normal game, opponent draws 9 cards of 12 card deck (Thanos/Agatha excepted), leaving Darkhawk at a 4/7 without some assistance, which is just 1 power above The Thing, a 4-cost card with no ability. With Rockslide, Darkhawk can go up to 4/11, and even further with Korg (add a rock to the opp's deck) and Widow (prevent a draw). 15 power for Darkhawk is definitely possible, and locations can drive that up even further.
The setup for Darkhawk is to play Korg, Black Widow and Rockslide to keep the opponent's deck nice and fat. Disrupting the opponent's draws is a nice side effect of this deck, though you may not see that effect on the board. Korg can be played on curve, or wherever he fits (say a turn 5 with 2 other 4-drops if Zabu is on the board). Widow can also be played on curve, but I actually like her best on turn 5, to stop any top deck shenanigans. Again, she can pair with another reduced cost 4-drop on turn 5 (or earlier). These cards, along with the other drops should be spread around to keep the lanes within winning distance of DH(and Dracula)
Finally, you want to save DH for turn 6 if possible to reduce chance of getting hit with an Enchantress or Shang-chi. You can also play him into a cosmo'd lane or armor lane as well.
Part 2: Dracula
On the other side is Dracula, a 4/0, that discards a card at the end of the game and takes that card's power. This is why the 6 drops are in the deck as they are targets for Dracula's discard. I chose these discards because they are also playable (though Infinaut is tough to play due to trying to play cards turns 3-6). Giganto has a restriction to play the left lane only, but comes with 14 power. Dracula can make that 14 power appear anywhere. Magneto and She-hulk are interchangeable , and both allow you a turn 6 play if Dracula or Darkhawk are not in hand or viable plays. Dracula plays a lane that is different from Darkhawk and/or 6-drop.
Because of Dracula's unique mechanic, he's not vulnerable to any of the disrupt cards that would hinder Darkhawk. This allows Dracula to come out onto the board as soon as possible. The only other setup is to try to empty your hand of anything but the 6 drops, so that Dracula picks up that nice power.
So pick a lane, and drop Drac. I prefer to drop him alongside the 1 and 2 drops, to bolster those lanes. The opponent has to respect his range, and should allow you cherry pick a 2nd lane for Darkhawk.
Part 3: Miscellaneous card strategies and subs.
As I note above, I chose the 6 drops specially because they could be played. Use your judgment (and available cards) as to when to play them. For example, you could drop Psylocke on Turn 4 and then drop Giganto/Magneto onto the board on Turn 5, leaving another big drop for Dracula to discard on turn 6.
If you are using the She-hulk version, you have a few more options. Dropping a single card on turn 5 that only costs 2, drops She-hulks turn 6 cost to 3, allowing you to pair with a reduced cost 4-drop. If that 2 drop was Psylocke you can go She-Hulk +2 other 4 drops.
Subs:
Irreplaceable - Zabu, Darkhawk, Dracula, Rockslide. If you don't have these, then you are running a different deck.
Almost irreplaceable -
Korg. You can go Iceman here, as it can force a larger hand that might result in a lost draw, but often won't. Since Korg is only a 1/2, and the Rock adds 2 to Darkhawk, you'd need a 1 drop that gives 4 power. Which means you could only really run Ant-man in this spot. You have enough cards to proc Ant-man's ability, at the expense of losing that +2 on DH elsewhere. Everyone has Korg in pool 3, so no real reason to drop him.
Black Widow - pretty much the same as Korg. She stuffs a draw, which is more important than her actual power. I would say you need at least one of either Korg or Widow. If you don't have Widow, since she is in pool 3, you can replace her with Okoye, who helps brings an additional power to the rest of the deck.
Nice to haves:
Psylocke - She is not essential to the deck, but she works very nicely as a back-up ramp in a 4-drop if you don't draw Zabu. She also slots in nicely on turn 6 to empty the hand. Like Widow, she can be replaced by Okoye. Wave is another option to sub in, though wave would be played on turn 5 to allow a 6 drop to go with the reduced 4 drop.
Jubilee - Jubilee presence here is help bring a missing piece from the deck to the board. Since she costs 4, she gets the cost reduction from Zabu as well. You can also ramp into her early with Psylocke if no Zabu in hand, and hopes she brings him or a big guy out. In terms of replacement, you can try Lockjaw to try to bring out another card after dropping a card on the lane. However, I would consider Moon Girl in her place. Moon Girl can duplicate the left side of your hand, which may give extra Dracula Targets, or if you're luck, a second Darkhawk. I'm playtesting this version out over the next couple of days.
Enchantress- not much to say other than, feel free to swap to Shang-chi if you are facing more big targets versus on-going. Personally with Zabu out, Enchantress feels more must have at the moment. Cosmo is not a suitable replacement due to the number of on reveal cards in the deck. Choose one of Enchantress or Shang.
6 drops/Dracula Targets:
I would say Infinaut is close to irreplaceable. Giganto could be replaced with the Hulk if you wanted more flexibility or Death, if you are facing a lot of Deathwave. Magneto could go to Hulk as well, especially if you don't have a good feel for how he moves things around. She-hulk, we talked about above. She is slightly less yes, but gives some added flexibility to the turns, especially if you draw a poor hand and can't curve out.
Red Skull is a potential target for Dracula. I tried him and while he works as a Drac discard, he feels real bad with Jubilee. I'd only consider him if I didn't have Giganto.
Destroyer is only an option if you drop Jubilee from the deck. Sakar, Grand Central Station and Doc Ock would be your main worries with a destroyer in hand.
My philosophy with the big drops is that should be able to be play them (or have Jubilee pull them) and not feel bad.
Part 4 Lcoation thoughts:
instant retreat:
Lamentis. Full Stop. There is no saving that game.
Olympia and Nova Roma are near instant retreats as well. You'll have to have a strong hand (2 of rockslide, Korg, Widow, plus Drac, Zabu or Jubilee)
Watchout:
Asgard - you must win this location. Drop Darkhawk early if you have to. Seriously consider retreating if you don’t win. (For example, if Kamar-Taj is another location, the game is salvageable).
Crimson Cosmos - bane of Zabu decks. You are likely going to have to win the other lanes, or use your 6 drop to contest.
Isle of Silence- just watch your on-going placement, but good for Drac and the on-reveal cards.
Super helpful locations -
Kamar-Taj (double up on Korg, RockSlide for big fat Darkhawk, double energy from Psylocke, and double Widow’s Bite).
Subterrena - instant snap if Darkhawk is in hand. Watch your Jubilee though.
Lechuguilla and Vibranium Mines - opponents tend to play around this, but snap if they do play on this location.
Onslaught Citadel - Double Zabu cost reduction (1 cost 4 drops, yes please!) and double up on Darkhawk’s bonus (cha-ching!)
Knowwhere - protects Darkhawk and Zabu from the evil Enchantress. (:
