Inspiration
This is a little experimental tempo deck I built mainly to use whenever I get that "Draw X cards" quest.
Snapping Strategy
Since Mr Brode says you should snap on turn 1 for more cubes, I try to do that. This deck has been helpful in making the other player unsure, fearing they are gonna lose cubes. I've seen more success with that strategy, but like, I'll add more notes as I play.
Deck Description
Main thing about this deck is just keeping up early game pressure with cards like Ebony Maw and Sunspot, and being able to close out some locations before turn 5 so that you aren't as susceptible to Leader plays.
Some key points for you:
- Never play Ebony Maw turn one. You wanna leave him to turn 3 and put him in lane with Adam Warlock. Ideally, with a turn 1 Sunspot and/or a turn 2 Lizard. Make that opponent sweat
- Throwing our Adam Warlock in am empty lane is also a great bait for Starlord. As is Storm!
- Save Storm and Juggernaut for the old 1/2. Putting Storm into a lane makes them go "oh shi-" while dealing with your other stacked lane. Adding Juggs in the turn after to knock all their stuff about is *chefs kiss* and can win you a lane. Starlord can also be good to sneak out a win in the lane as you know they are gonna play there.
- Sandman is the combo killer. The spice doesn't flow while this bad boy is on the board, messing up potential Zabu and Silver Surfer decks
- Rescue has a lot of synergy with Aero and Sunspot. Just remember not to hold onto her for Turn 6. Get her out turn 5 to also mess up Leader shenanigans
- Crossbones is a bully and can be easily mess up an unsuspecting opponent focused on the wrong lane. That Ebony Maw/Warlock lane isn't the main threat now, is it? Ho ho ho
So all-in-all, this deck comes from a place of absolute hatred for Leader and a desire to build a deck just to ditch those lazy players who rely on him to get cubes. The bawbags that they are. Enjoy!
Pool 2 Replacements for Pool 3 Cards
Adam Warlock - He really does help keep the deck consistent, but if you don't have him and want a viable alternative, consider Cloak for good stats and more synergy with Ebony Maw (you can move stuff into Maw's lane once it's locked down if Cloak went off before you played him!)
Juggernaut - Obvious choice here would be Jessica Jones. Won't make your Storm plays as consistent, but still very good when you're in the earlier pools
Crossbones - Another one you could replace with Jessica Jones, but also consider Vision or Warpath for the stat lines
Rescue - This is a toughie to replace. You lose a lot of functionality for the deck without her, but at a stretch, Hobgoblin would give you versatility to disrupt the opponent in a similar fashion
Aero - Now this is an extremely tough card to replace. The sort of shenanigans you can pull with Aero to let you control specific turns is impossible to replace with a pool 2 card, so here are just straight alternatives for game plan: Killmonger (Get rekt, zoo decks), Shang-chi (Get rekt, big stuff) or Leech (Get rekt, turn 6 plays). Not a direct 1:1 comparison, but you'll get the job done!
