The name of the game is spitting out big stuff for cheap, or simply playing your big bois on turn 6 and 7. This is done by playing Lockjaw followed by your cheap cards in his lane, and/or using Jubilee to do the same thing, but once, or just playing Magik and hard casting two big bois.
Some tips for playing the deck:
- Wasp is ONLY to be played after Lockjaw, and even then you usually want her to be the last card played in his lane each turn to avoid him fetching her, and to give you a chance to redraw her for more fetches.
- Always play Jubilee BEFORE doing Lockjaw fetches. You don't want to send a cheap card back to your deck just to have Jubilee fetch it. Jubilee > Wasp is a fine play, Wasp > Jubilee is a terrible play.
- Remember Sunspot is a cheap card, but he can also put power on the board. This makes him both a great throwaway to Lockjaw, AND a decent fetch with him or Jubilee. He's not ideal but he's not a complete whiff either.
- Generally speaking, Lockjaw's job is done as soon as he fetches a big card. You can keep trying to fetch big cards if you want, but you run the risk of him just pulling your cheap card again (and I find that in general Lockjaw likes to swap cards with a card he just sent back, IE many times I've played Wasp and Nightcrawler only to have Nightcrawler swap with Wasp). The exception to this is Shang Chi. If you suspect he'll be played, and you don't have priority, you can wait for the Shang Cheese and then try to pull another big boi after.
- In general this deck doesn't fear Shang Chi. Most decks only have one Shang; this deck has 4 big bois and one big girlboss. If one gets destroyed, usually you can just play another one.
For those wondering, Nightcrawler and Vision fill the similar role of being cards that, when fetched with Jubilee or Lockjaw, can be moved to a different lane and do another fetch. This is why I chose Vision over Captain Marvel; Carol only moves after the game ends, where Vision can be moved right away (the 1 extra power doesn't hurt either). For example, suppose you play Nightcrawler on Lockjaw's lane and he's swapped with Vision. Well, next turn you can just move Vision out of the way and play another cheap card there instead, and if Nightcrawler gets fetched again, you can move him out of the way too.
You may notice the Suggested cards contain some of the things you'd expect like Red Skull, and Devil Dino, and these are mostly just alternatives for if you don't have Magneto, or She-Hulk, but I want to talk about Crystal. I've run her before and she's actually good, as long as she ends up in the middle lane at a good time for you. I liked her a lot back then because she could shuffle any big bois you drew into your deck to be fetched by Jubilee or Lockjaw, but she's a double edged sword in that she can show up at bad times and ruin your day, or just uselessly show up in the left or right lane and do nothing. That being said, she's worth considering as a replacement for Magik, or Vision because she has real utility, but she requires some attention to detail.
Armor and Cosmo are suggested only as defense against Shang Chi and stuff if you don't have access to all of the big stuff in the deck, IE if you don't have SHulk or Magneto, then your options are basically to sub in Armor or Cosmo and Red Skull or Devil Dino because you'll be way more vulnerable to Shang Chi.
