Intro
Hey guys! I'm a 3x Infinity player, and this is the deck I'm planning to climb to infinite with next season. I unlocked Destroyer recently and I wanted to create an original deck with him, since his normal archetype (Ongoing Destroyer) is super predictable and in my opinion not great for climbing since people will just leave on turn 6 if you can win with either Destroyer or Spectrum. It can be a great deck for newer players who want obvious signals for when to snap and retreat, but personally I think it's kind of boring.
Surprise Factor
I prefer a playstyle where I can suddenly surprise the opponent on the last turn, and that's what this deck specializes in! Ideally you'll lock down one lane with big strong cards, and once that lane is protected (either from armor, or cosmo in another lane), you can play Destroyer for not 15, but 21 damage on turn 6, with the help of Quinjet and Hood's Demon. This deck runs Maria Hill as a backup to Hood, so with her help on average your turn 6 will come out to about 17 damage.
Most people will NOT be expecting Destroyer to be played on your final turn, since you barely play any cards that telegraph his appearance, much less him AND an extra card. Most people will be at most expecting 12 power at most on the board at this point. Maybe a little more than that if you played Sera, but still this puts you in a very favorable position.
There are also alternative win conditions in case Quinjet or Destroyer don't show up. We also run Iron Man and Mystique for a good turn 5 and 6 combo. If you want to burst down the opponent on turn 6 instead you can also play Sera on turn 5 and then Ironman + Mystique together on turn 6. Sera also allows for more creative combos you might find yourself in need of, such as Armor + Destroyer on turn 6. If Iron Man doesn't show up Mystique can also be used on Cosmo in a pinch to shut down another lane's potential swing cards.
Ideal turn order
Surprise, there's not really an ideal turn order. This deck is pretty flexible with whatever you get, and you can always float your energy to Sunspot if nothing else. It IS important to consider what your win condition is going to be, as some games it might be Maria Hill + Cosmo + Maximus + Swordmaster in one lane and Armor + Destroyer in the next, or it might be playing Sera for an Iron Man + Mystique turn 6. It could also be something completely different. I wouldn't recommend snapping at any point if you don't have either Destroyer or Iron Man in your hand, they're pretty important for getting lots of power on the board.
Substitutions/Other cards to consider
I'd probably consider Maria Hill the most replaceable card here, but she really does wonders for your curve if you draw her early, don't overlook her just because she isn't a top meta option.
It might be too bulky, but Moon Girl is always worth considering in decks that run Quinjet/Hood. And if you go that route you might benefit more from a staple like Devil Dinosaur too, which as a bonus can be copied by Mystique. I don't personally own Agent Coulson yet but on paper I could see him being good here too.
Maximus feels pretty important to me, but if you don't have him you could sub him out for Deathlok, who can also remove Hood from the board as a bonus. If you don't have Destroyer I'd recommend a different deck, but if you're really stubborn you could probably do fine with Gamora instead, who can be played with a Demon or a Maria Hill'ed 1-cost as well. Another card that combos well with these cheaper cards is Aero who might be a decent option too.
