Unlike alot of the decks I try to make there's not a lot of design space for this one with the current cards we have available in Marvel Snap. So I figured I start with the cards I see in some of the other Nimrod decks and why I decided against them.
Arnim Zola - I'm not sure what people like about Zola + Nimrod so much. You end up using your turn 5 and 6 play putting 10 power in 2 locations. You can buff the Nimrod before then but then your talking about 3+ cards in sequence and if your planning on that you can achieve incredible things with lots of combos. I think it has more merit if your backup plans includes Black Panther but that's not the direction I want to take this deck so he's out.
Killmonger - Our 1 Drops are blown up well enough by the other 4 cards we play that can do the job and if we made room for a tech card against our opponent there are more impactful cards I would choose first.
Death & Knull - My game plan for how the deck plays out doesn't see us destroying enough cards early on to make Death worthwhile. The cards we do destroy also aren't very large making Knull not great either. Due to the symmetrical nature of these cards though it may be correct to include them as a counter card if these architype becomes popular but not otherwise in this version.
Yondu - Should only ever be played with Death & Knull
Deadpool - Unreasonable to play alongside Electro
Sabretooth - Too expensive
Angel - Isn't a real card
Galactus - Is so significant a different playstyle that including him makes this a completely different deck.
So with that out of the way here are the cards I actually put into the deck. Instead of going though one by one I've grouped them by what there roll is.
The Hood, Nova, Bucky Barnes & Wolverine - are all cheap cards that want to be destroyed. This allows us multiple chances to play things out in the early turns of the game. In games were we manage to get rid of Electro we will often be able to play them out as a bonus.
Carnage, Venom & Deathlok - are our cheap destroy cards. Unlike most destroy decks our aim is to hold these back so we can play 2 of them on the final turn destroying our early plays and hopefully multiple Nimrods. The difficult part of piloting this deck will be being able to tell when that isn't going to happen and playing them earlier.
Electro, Nimrod & Destroyer - is our Plan A
Taskmaster & Shuri - represent our Plans B and onwards
Next I thought I'd mention some of the play lines you should be looking for when playing the deck. I'll note that I have omitted the early turns from my description since it doesn't really matter which of our early plays that you make just that you play something. The only exception to that is Hood, if your line looks like you'll be able to play Demon alongside your big turn 6 play then you should prioritize The Hood in the early turns if not then any other option is better.
Electro > Nimrod > Destroyer > 2 Destroy cards + Bonus - This is what I consider to be the nut draw of the deck and is capable of bouncing lots of power all across the board.
Electro > Shuri > Destroyer > Taskmaster + Bonus - This is essentially what Shuri + Red Skull has been doing all of last season. It's best utilised when your opponent sets up Cosmo or Armor which destroys our primary game plan but in turn will protect this plan.
Electro > Nimrod > Venom > Taskmaster - Not a great draw but it's something. Ideally you stack Nova, Electro & Nimrod in one path but certainly winning will be a struggle
Shuri > Nimrod > Destroyer *or* 2 Destroy cards - This is where you hope 10 power Nimrods are enough and who knows maybe they will be.
Shuri > Demon + Taskmaster - This is a nice finish for games where you felt forced into playing your destroy cards early and missed Electro. Opponents should struggle to play around 2 Hulks on the final turn.
I think it's likely to be a bit of an uphill battle for Nimrod. He's entering into a Meta of people playing his 2 primary hate cards as enablers for there own deck. There is a good chance that he will immediatly be benched until the meta changes but that won't stop me form running him down mid anyway. As always let me know how this deck works out for you and what changes if any that have brought you success. Have fun snapping.
