Ideal play line involves Cerebro, Magik, Sera, which allows a devastating Valkyrie + Absorbing Man on the last turn.
Cards :
- Wasp is great surprise power, but not core.
- Bast helps sometimes, but really you want the Valkyrie line. Really fun against Zemo.
- Jeff is Jeff, it helps keep a spot in clogged lanes.
- Cerebro doesn't need Mystique since you will be leveling the playing field later.
- There isn't too much location removal right now so Limbo is pretty safe for Magik. Curve is very awakward sometimes.
- Debrii gives you units to Valk later and also disrupts the enemy.
- Rhino is good against bad locations. It is most often redundant with Magik but it is useful enough to keep him.
- Absorbing Man is really here for the Valkyrie play.
- Iron Lad is good to grab an ability since you really want your combo to go off.
- Iron Man gud. Helps against ongoing decks.
- Valkyrie, it's all about her. With Red Guardian there might be an uptick in Luke Cage so this deck might perform better after a week or two. Great against clog.
- Sera allows the Valkyrie + Absorbing Man on T7. It is also generally good as it helps play Iron Man and Cerebro on T6 for instance.
- Obviously play cards that don't have 3 power in a place where they will be Valk'd.
Other versions :
- Invisible Woman with Mystique : helps smooth the curve as you can play Mystique or Absorbing Man behind her and finish the game with either Cerebro/Iron Man or Valkyrie. Clunky but can be great.
- Crystal to draw more your combo.
- Jubilee to draw more your combo. Once you learn the ins and outs of on reveals it can be good. But you need to manage space really carefully and with Iron Lad and Abs Man in the deck it can clog yourself.
- Brood / Mysterio to generate more units to set to 3 power. Brood or Sinister and Magik + Captain America is sneaky too.
Matchups :
- Good against decks with little direct interaction. Hela killer, Phoenix killer.
- Bad against pure ongoing decks. Living Tribunal.
- Susceptible to disruption. Doc Ock is the bane of this deck.
Snap pattern :
- Combo deck so if you have your combo AND the opponent doesn't have too much interaction, snap as much as possible. The unpredictable nature of the deck helps, even if a good player would recognize Bast + Cerebro + Sera = shenanigans, it's hard to anticipate the output.
- Leave early if things don't look good. Be careful of a frequent trap : having the whole combo except for Cerebro, you can execute perfectly the rest, equalize 2 lanes... and realize they win the 3 because they actually played points.
