This started as a Hela Modok deck, but one thing you learn as you play Hela is how many ways there are to play it. As such i been using this deck as a why to record as many versions as possible into it.
While there are many versions of Hela, the core of it can be divide into two sides, midrange and hand dump. And i am gonna go over both in some detail.
Midrange - This is the first version most player get access to but also the most ignored one, in this version you wanna use cards like Blade, Collen, Samurai, Sif and Black cat to target what you discard. Its a smaller payoff for a more consistent play pattern.
Hand Dump - This one is the one most players know, Modok and Invisible woman are your bread and butter, you set Invi turns 2-4, Play modok on 5 and Hela on 6. This deck has a higher payoff, probably the highest one in the game, but also has a lots of risk. Cosmo, Spiderman, Stregon and other cards can easily disrupt your plan.
"Which one should i use?" That is a fairly loaded question tbh, While the hand dump feels amazing when it goes off it also ask for a lot out of you, proper snapping, proper retreating, matchup knowledge, it is not a very newbie friendly deck. On the other side Midrange ask you to understand your deck in and out, when to ditch hela plans, when to go for a ghost rider or jubilee and the odds of pulling what you need.
As a whole i would probably start with midrange hela and then move into hand dump. next i am gonna go over some cards and explain how they help Helas plans.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not all cards are build the same and not all of them work on the same for both core versions of hela. As such we are gonna go over them by those that work for only one of the game plans and those that work for both.
Midrange Support Cards
For a midrange plan your goal is to discard as much as possible without risking Hela, as such anything that can target is a good option.
Blade - You can easily target one card to discard with him now, as you never want to discard Hela or a keycard he is quite good.
Samurai - Discard the lowest cost card, which is usually a Dracula or a ironman and then bring it back with Ghost or Hela. Add a bit of disruption on top and you are getting a lot of value.
Black Knight - We are discarding big things to bring back with Hela, right? well, why not get a big 4 cost in the process?
Black Cat - 4/9 that you rarely play, most of the time she is bring back by another card making her a 0/9. Why would you not use her?
Drac (6/10) - Hela decks tend to play a bunch of big units, Drac takes those card you may have kept in hand and put them on the board.
Hand Dump Support Cards
Hand dump depends on getting the cards you need on the turns yo need them. As such anything that helps you get there is important for the deck.
Crystal - simple draw 1 card, easy, effective, securing your Hela combo is worth more than anything your opponent draws. A little niche play is to do Invi>Crystal>Modok>Hela, negating her cons and getting a huge board.
Magik - She is a bit of a honorable mention, just ass crystals she gives you an extra card, but she also give you 7 extra energy the deck really does not need. The problem is that there are a lot of decks that can negate turn 7 and a lot of decks that can use turn 7 to go higher than you, so really, she ends up costing you as many games as she secures. She does improve once you actually have an use for those extra 7 energy, for example tribunal.
General support cards.
There are cards that both versions of Hela love to have around. You dont have to include them but i am giving them a rating to each just so you get a feeling for which ones i find more important.
Infinaut (10/10) - Well, 6/20, biggest base stat on the game. Very hard to justify not running him. Very little to add on top.
Giganto (8/10) - Giganto wishes he was Infinaut, and do we. Still, 6/14 is good, and you can just play him left sometimes.
Magneto, Death, Hulk (7/10) - 12 power base cards... just nice cards to get out of Hela. Which one to use really depends on which one synergies the better with your deck. Or which one you like the most lol.
Jubilee (9/10) - 4 cost card that pulls a card from the top of you deck, she is one of Hela best support cards. In hand dump she is close to an extra draw and in midrange she can draw pieces you needed or just a big card.
Lad (8/10) - He does a lot of what jubilee does but with one difference, you still have to draw whatever he hits, overall he shines a lot more in versions of Hela that have things worth copying, so not as good in the Hela decks that focus on raw power.
Ghost rider (8/10) - Ghost rider has a complicated relationship with the Hand Dump version, is not bad but is not great either. Meanwhile he is quite the powerhouse in Midrange, he can easily work as a smaller Hela and still net you the win.
Sif (10/10) - "Why is Sif single out over here?" Sif has an amazing stat line and is capable of targeting cards, both of which are amazing for Hela, but, she does come with a requirement, Death. Not yours! dont worry, Sif wont come out of the screen and try to choke you (as much as some of you may want that) instead she requires you use Death, the card, which is not exactly bad, but is something note worthy.
"Can i play Sif without Death in Hela?" You can, but there is a decent chance that you hit Hela with Sif often.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You may notice some cards missing, and those are shell cards, basically card that you cant just splash but instead commit to a different play style. Those go as follow:
Warlock, Ebony, Lizard, Chavez - Chavez is a card you usually wanna avoid in Hela, and she can be used alone but her best use inside hela is in this shell, you basically want to build a big lane for warlock and then get 2+ draws securing a full hand dump. Yup, this shell is mainly for hand dump.
Tribunal, Iron man, Onslaught - Just as Chavez, you can run Iron man on its own inside Hela deck, usually in hand dump stuff, but he shines a lot more inside this shell. Usually tribunal shell becomes a second wincon, and usually it requires Magik, how good the combo it depends on meta, so avoid this shell on ongoing heavy metas since it means the counters are around often. And yeah, this is also a shell for hand dump for the most part.
Morbius, Collector, Swarn, Dino, Collen, Cow, Swordmaster - "What is this madness?" This "little" shell creates its own kind of deck, You basically discard a bunch of stuff for get a big Morbius, a big Collector, maybe a big Dino and then Hella adds a few more Swarns on top. This one is sadly the one i have use the least so i cant really give a lot of info, but it is wacky and fun.
LockJaw - "How can a single card make a shell?" Simple, Jaw warps how you play the deck. You put small units into him pull big units and pray shang is not around. Usually ppl call it Casino hela and for good reason, a bit of luck is certainly require to not fumble play, luck and a lot of skill lol.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blob - "Why is this guy alone?" Blob is a future card that may help Hela decks, the fact you run a lot of big card means you usually have quite a few big cards inside the deck which he can pull and be big. How good he is gonna end up been is up for debate since he is still no out.

Final notes: I dont know, just go have fun, i add final notes later. Been updating this guide for like 30 minutes now, i am bored lol.
