This is not an optimal list, admittedly. It is weak to Killmonger, who is rampant right now with Kitty Pryde and Nebula so popular. That isn’t strictly a downside, though. An early Nova, Yondu, and/or Squirrel Girl can suggest a potential Killmonger threat. Those are good games to disguise the fact you’re playing Cerebro as long as possible. Set up Wong, Luke Cage, and telegraph a Hazmat play. that’ll fish out the Killmonger early to deal with the one or two early drops you had and then on five you can play Cerebro and on six you can dump your hand.
Anyway, Cerebro isn’t the most complicated deck these days so I wasn’t going to bother making one of these but I’ve been grinding Cerebro 2 a lot so I figured it was due.
On turns 4 and 5, remember to play your one/two drops first, then Cerebro. That way if you draw Mystique you can still play her. You’ll only mess this up a couple times before you learn to remember, but maybe i can save you an unnecessary retreat by warning you now.
So you can play Cerebro 2 like, a ton of different ways. This version is running Luke Cage/Wong/Hazmat as both an alternate wincon for when I don’t draw Cerebro, and a devastating turn six when my opponent has gone wide. It’s strong because Luke Cage is already strong right now courtesy of of High Evolutionary. Might as well take advantage of the necessity of the situation.
There’s one other unique pick in this build and that’s Silver Surfer. Many lists don’t run Surfer because they’re running Brood and Storm. This is a reasonable decision; Storm is incredibly good when there’s annoying lanes like Muir Island. And Brood is tons of value in this deck. But I can’t run them with SS.
what I can do is catch my opponent off guard on Turn 6 by turning my Cerebro and Mystique from 0 power cards to 6+. the surprise factor of this is very effective. Putting Cerebro in Bar Sinister isn’t giving the lane up to win the other two- with a Mystique the following turn and a surfer on six you’ll have 48 power there.
There is some trade off to running Storm/Brood or Surfer. But I think the first earns more retreats while the latter wins more 4-8 cube games. And play Sinister or Goose or Daredevil or something over some of the one drops if Killmonger’s too much for you.
