The Game Plan
Spider-Ham just came out and I wanted a list that really complimented his ability to shut down decks and what they want to play. This naturally led me to make a Sera Control list, with some variations here and there. Definitely not reinventing the wheel, but adding to the spokes with Spider-Ham's utility.
Our basic gameplan is to counter what our opponent is doing throughout the match while setting up steady power before adding a huge number of points on the last turn thanks to Sera.
The Decklist
- Bast works well in this list to buff Iron Man, Hit-Monkey, Bishop, and Mysterio and more_,_ offering huge bonuses to their power, while having negligible effects on our other cards.
- Spider-Ham is this deck's namesake and is an incredible little 1-drop. Being able to interrupt our opponent's big 6-cost card and having that card revealed to us gives us information and disruption. Perfect for a control list like this one.
- Hit-Monkey is a staple and pairs well after Sera is played, allowing for an explosive last turn. Hit-Monkey also works particularly well with Mysterio.
- Armor is a tech card here to allow us to shut down destroy decks and Killmonger + Nova combos, while also allowing us to reach locations like Death's Domain.
- Sentinel is simple and effective, allowing us to always have a card to play for steady power and is great to play for 1 cost last turn with Sera.
- Mysterio is an incredible card that boosts both Hit-Monkey and Bishop while adding ambiguity to our plays.
- Bishop is a plug 'n play card that can get pretty huge throughout the game and especially on turn 6 after we play Sera.
- Rogue is a tech card in here to shut down our opponent's strategy, especially if they're banking on a large card like Devil Dinosaur or Darkhawk.
- Rhino is a tech in here to add location disruption if it particularly benefits our opponent. I find he is also helpful at making sure that we get the benefit of our location before our opponent does.
- Shang-Chi is an obvious tech inclusion as he can single-handedly take down any greedy power deck.
- Iron Man works well as an alternate way to win a lane AND really benefits from being hit by Bast.
- Sera is a staple of this archetype and allows for insane last turn plays. Not much more to say!
The Wrap-Up
This deck archetype is already tried and true, but adding a little extra spice with Spider-Ham has proven to be extremely fun and useful. I might be adding more Spider-Ham to my other decks, as he's really great for a 1-drop!
