The Game Plan
Daken has just released, and this list tries to take advantage of his power ramping in the easiest way possible. We have Absorbing Man to get another shard on turn 4, and then M.O.D.O.K. on turn 5 to get him to 16 power!
The rest of the deck is a synergistic discard list, with the idea that M.O.D.O.K. enables nearly every card here. Get Swarms, upgrade Apocalypse, and buff Morbius.
The Decklist
- Nebula is an easy 1 drop to include that can help gain power for us while we're setting up our big turn 5 combo.
- Morbius is amazing in this list when paired with M.O.D.O.K., and can easily reach 12+ power. I tend to focus on building two lanes- one with Morbius, and the other with Daken.
- Zabu is great for setting up multiple 4 costs and allowing us to get them out early. Having both Dracula and White Queen out by turn 4 can lead to a great setup for M.O.D.O.K.
- Armor is a tech in here to give us a little location control and disruption for an opposing Destroy deck. On top of that, it can protect our big 16 power Daken or our 5 power Nebula from being destroyed.
- Swarm is a staple in any discard list, and pairs well with M.O.D.O.K. and Colleen Wing to fill our board.
- Colleen Wing is in here to combo with Swarm and Daken, but ultimately shouldn't be played unless it's for those instances.
- Daken is the star of this deck, and when combined with Absorbing Man can end up being a 3/16. Colleen Wing and M.O.D.O.K. enable the destruction of the Muramasa Shard fairly easily, and it makes this deck archetype even more of a threat than it already was.
- Dracula is here to combo with Apocalypse, as he regularly ends up being a 4/12 or a 4/16 depending on when M.O.D.O.K. is played.
- Absorbing Man is primarily here for an easy combo with Daken, allowing for 2 Muramasa Shards in the hand. He also can act as a second Colleen Wing, White Queen, or M.O.D.O.K. in the event we need it.
- White Queen is a nice curve-filler that can give us extra info on our opponent while giving us extra fuel for Morbius.
- M.O.D.O.K. is absolutely the crutch of this deck, as he enables nearly every card here. That being said, our other play options CAN stand on their own in the event we don't draw him.
- Apocalypse is fuel for our Dracula, but can stand on his own if M.O.D.O.K. discards him and Dracula isn't in play.
The Wrap-Up
Daken really does elevate the Discard archetype to a new level in my opinion, being able to carry a lane on his own sometimes. Even at his floor, he can easily reach a 3/8 statline, which is premium compared to other cards you could put into this list. I'm personally very impressed with the performance of this deck, and it'll be my go-to for Discard dailies or what have you.
