The Game Plan
With Lady Deathstrike being the newest card to release in the Destroy season, I wanted to make a list that used some out of the box thinking and could really take advantage of Lady Deathstrike's effect. That's when I found that she has a lot of synergy with Valkyrie, and that's when it all clicked with me.
The idea with this list is to mitigate the downsides of powerful cards like The Hood and Sentry while disrupting our opponent's plays. We have Shadow King and Valkyrie to limit the power plays of buff decks and Lady Deathstrike and Killmonger to destroy key cards in combo lists.
There are a ton of play options, but ultimately, disrupting our opponent and reaping the benefits for ourselves is what this list aims to do.
The Decklist
- Wasp synergizes extremely well with Valkyrie, since in this case we're looking to have more cards on our side of the board when using Valkyrie's effect. Wasp also makes a decent target for Nakia, isn't effected by our Killmonger, and can be fodder for our Carnage in a pinch.
- The Hood is a natural fit in this list, since the -3 power The Hood has can be destroyed by Killmonger, Lady Deathstrike, and Carnage. In the event our curve plays out well, playing him on the right side with The Void can set up a nice lane for Valkyrie, since our opponent isn't likely to put a lot of resources into that lane. Additionally, having a 1/6 on the last turn to pair with Lady Deathstrike or Valkyrie can come in really clutch.
- Nova is perfect for this list since he pairs with a lot of the same cards as The Hood. On top of that, having the ability to buff our board gives us a bit of an edge once we knock our opponent's power down.
- Carnage is perfect in that he gets fairly high power by destroying targets at an incredibly low play cost. He can destroy Debrii's rocks, The Hood, The Void, Wasp, and gains critical power when doing so.
- Debrii can act as a way to fuel our Carnage, but pairs amazingly with our destroy cards to discount our Death. Additionally, adding rocks to our opponent's side can really limit their play options while we set up Valkyrie or Killmonger.
- Killmonger can drastically swing a match, destroying cards like Kitty Pryde, Nebula, and Sunspot while negating The Hood and allowing Nova's buff to help our board.
- Nakia is a simple inclusion to buff Lady Deathstrike to 4 power, allowing us to target Bast-effected cards like a 5/3 Iron Man and etc.
- Shadow King is an incredibly useful card to set up a Lady Deathstrike or just straight up ruin our opponent's board.
- Sentry is a strong 4/10 statline with his downside being entirely mitigated by the other cards in this list.
- Lady Deathstrike is the feature of this list, and you'd be surprised at just how many games she can steal! Getting rid of our negative power cards along with our opponent's Wong, Dracula, Iron Man, etc. is amazing.
- Valkyrie is equally powerful as Lady Deathstrike, but requires a bit more thinking sometimes. Having Wasp to help out is a huge help, and obviously turning our negative power cards into power is valuable.
- Death benefits from our Carnage, Lady Deathstrike, and Killmonger, and can pair well with a Demon on turn 6.
The Wrap-Up
This deck is surprisingly effective at dismantling nearly everything except Ongoing lists. I'm going to experiment with this list and see if it can surprise people!
