Hello and welcome to the Nimrod Bukake guide page! This deck features Nimrod as its focal point of power (as you already guessed) but has some cool ways of making that happen. Its a lot more resilient than you may think. It very easily got me to infinite and is doing quite well in the competitive ranks beyond that too.
Outside of the obvious Shuri and Symbiote Spider-Man to beef up the power of Nimrod there are some other more tricky ways of using these cards that are not so obvious on the surface.
For example:
- Turn 2 play Hulk Buster | Turn 4 play Spider-Man | Turn 5 play Nimrod and activate Spider-Man = 15 power Nimrod at the end of turn 5
- Turn 3 play Magik | Turn 4 play Spider-Man | Turn 5 play Shuri over Spider-Man | Turn 6 activate Spider-Man absorbing Shuri and activating her ability a second time then play Nimrod at that location = 24 power Nimrod at the end of turn 6
Its also worth noting that the best use of Arnim Zola is going to be on turn 7 after you've used Venom to kill Nimrod the previous turn. The copies of Venom will be duplicated at the other locations with the same power and will also gain the power from eating the Nimrods at those locations. They get really big and the Nimrods are duplicated everywhere.
Nico is used primarily for her ability to destroy the next card played to draw two cards. That will help dig through the deck a little bit deeper to either find Nimrod himself or the other combo pieces you need to pop off at the end. Beyond that though, her other spells are still very useful at all stages of the game. She is so versatile and is definitely a must for the deck to keep its consistency.
Absorbing Man is another super versatile card but for different reasons. My initial thought on this card was to be able to turn 7 play Venom and follow that up with Absorbing Man for an additional Venom trigger. While this is a fantastic use for him, I've found that he can be used in so many other ways too. He can be another Arnim Zola on turn 7. Or another Hulk Buster on top of a lone Hulk Buster that you played on turn 2 to make that Hulk Buster even bigger in preparation for the Spider-Man/Nimrod combo. There are even more uses for this card but going through all of them would take up way too much of this space so I'm going to trust that you will have fun experimenting around with him and move on.
Sera is used to make all those late-game disasters turn out to be okay in the end. If you still haven't drawn Nimrod by turn 5 but you have some kill cards in hand, then play Sera and your next turn can still win you the game if you manage to top deck it. Or even play her on turn 5 even if you do have Nimrod in hand, but only if you've played Magik earlier in the game. Your turns 6 and 7 will be so explosive because of the cost reduction on all of your spells that you all but guarantee to walk away victorious.
Weaknesses include Armor, Cosmo, Shadow King, Valkyrie, Knull, and Alioth. Shadow King can still be gotten around rather easily, but its still worth noting that it will reset all of your setup process. Knull can also be gotten around as long as they don't have an Arnim Zola of their own to play over it. So just be cautious of a lone Knull on an opposing lane with a turn 7 yet to go. You'll also be fighting the lanes from time to time, but every deck has lanes that it doesn't like so there is no getting around this one.
If you are more of a visual learner then all of this and more is explained in the video. Thanks for checking it out! Happy snapping!
