The idea here is that Thanos’s Stones draw cards, but they take up a lot of board space. Misery can cause these Stones to draw double the cards, and then clears the space. The result is quick card draw and minimized destruction- enough to pay off Death.
The other crucial cards here: Lady Deathstrike and Killmonger also clear out Stones and tech against opponents’ plays. Phastos massively buffs the cards being drawn (and can be retriggered by Misery), Angel thins the deck and replaces the Power removed.
From here, Electro, X-23, Okoye, Carnage, and Black Swan all serve as cheap, destructible cards to support this game plan.
This deck is strong against decks with lots of 1-Cost cards or cards with low Power, such as Zoo, Bounce, or other Thanos decks. Lady Deathstrike and Killmonger can take these out and make Death much cheaper than this deck would normally allow.
However, it still holds its own without Death. Death often gets Power boosts and costs 5 or less- paired with Thanos, who often gets down to costing 4 with Time Stone- can be a big play on turns 5 or 6. There is a preponderance of small cards with big impact to fill the gaps around these bigger plays.
With Reality Stone, Space Stone, Soul Stone, and tech cards, this deck is very adaptable to changing game states. It’s because of this simple but flexible plan that I got to Infinite rank last season, and I plan to do so this season as well.
UPDATE 11/15: Just hit Infinite again. The buff to Thanos gives me one more card at the start, which is a massive buff for this deck. We are so reliant on card draw and initial conditions that one extra card has made this deck nigh unstoppable.
