Series 1 & 2 Tier List
Ranked & Conquest
There has been an influx of new players with the PC Launch of Marvel Snap. New players are now progressing through the early stages of card acquisition. Although card acquisition can be exciting, it is important to understand the current viability of the card you just acquired. Discovering the current viability of the card will allow you to analyze the card’s place in the current meta in ranked as well as in conquest to make better decisions on how you want to continue progressing through the game.
This tier list should be viewed as a resource for understanding a few core functions within the game. The first function is the importance of card roles. Some of these card roles include being the power play in the deck, a complement to another card’s success, a card that is flexible, such as a card that is able to move, and a defensive or counter card. The second function is the effect of meta cards and deck lists on other cards, whether that’s beneficial or disadvantageous. Finally, the third role is analyzing the impact a card has when played and how much it contributes to a victory, no matter what type of card is in the current meta.
Players that have extensive collections could view this tier list and be puzzled by some of the data. I would challenge those players to think more broadly about the game. There are series 1 and 2 cards that have less play in general that could skew the numbers in their favor or the other way around as well. Similarly, there are also cards in these series that have more play and affect their numbers positively or negatively.
The card that stands out most in this tier list is Devil Dinosaur. Devil Dinosaur is regarded as an excellent early game card, and I agree with that statement, but you will see that the complimentary cards to Devil Dinosaur are just not performing well in the current meta. So, I would suggest thinking about Devil Dinosaurs usage rate when viewing the card's statistics, along with the usage rate of other underperforming cards. Devil Dinosaur as a good card might be affected by being paired with not-so-good cards to make a deck list that synergizes but just doesn’t do enough to compete in the current meta, as experienced players will tell you that one card doesn’t win games.
There are a few other things I wanted to highlight about this tier list for series 1 and 2. The cards prior to Series 1 are featured on this tier list as well. You will notice that some of the cards prior to this series have different functions once you get further in the progression track, like Hulk, Misty Knight, The Thing, Cyclops, Shocker, and Abomination being paired with High Evolutionary. It was decided to not only include these cards, but to include their stats as a card prior to High Evolutionary as well as with High Evolutionary. This decision was made so that the overall impact of the cards can be shown from a long-term perspective, so players can go on the track to getting High Evolutionary if that fits what they want to do in the game.
This tier list also analyzes the last 30 days of data. You may see cards on this tier list that have been changed within the last 30 days, like Forge. Forge’s change has allowed the card to be prevalent within the current meta of the game, but it is still coupled with the statistics prior to the change to Forge, which could be a detriment to the card’s statistics. You will see a tier list for win percentage in ranked, average cube rate in ranked, win percentage in all ranked of conquest, and then an overall tier list that takes all the other tier lists into account. After the tier lists, I have provided some deck lists that only include cards from prior to series 1, series 1, and series 2. I hope you enjoy the tier list and have a BEWDiful Day!
