Good news, everyone! King Eitri is joining Marvel Snap as a Series 4 card but won’t be part of the Spotlight System. He'll be among the many rewards available on Deadpool’s Diner V2, which is coming up on the 21st. We don’t exactly know what's different with this second coming of the mercs’ diner; we know that Second Dinner mentioned that they improved on it, in what ways we don’t know. If you need a refresher or this is your first time visiting the dinner, we have a wonderful article that covers what you need to know. Some details might be outdated for this second take, but it's a solid read nonetheless.

Now, with that out of the way, let’s talk about King Eitri. So, who might he be?
Well, he is none other than the king of the Dwarves in Nidavellir. Also, as a side rustle, he forges the most powerful weapons in all nine realms. The Godmaker, his personal forge, is heated by the stars, which is probably the only way to work with Uru, a special metal from the first moon ever. Top-quality stuff.
His most famous creation is a little hammer called Mjolnir; maybe you've heard of it. How about Stormbreaker? He crafted it, too. The Destroyer? He probably forged it as well since he is the only guy who knows how to work with Uru, and the Destroyer is at least 20% Uru.
Could it possibly be Hammer time?
King Eitri is joining Snap as a 1-Cost 2-Power card with the Activate ability of drawing a card that didn’t start in your deck. It goes without saying that drawing a card is insanely powerful in Marvel Snap. If his effect drew any card from your deck, he might be in every single deck in the game, and Marvel Snap would be a game of 11 cards. However, his limitation of drawing cards that didn’t start in your deck graciously holds him back, so we can only slot him in decks, which we somehow shuffle cards in there. Let’s see our possibilities. The most apparent and lore-accurate portrayal features King Eitri in a deck with Thor and/or Beta Ray Bill. Both of our Hammer Bros require that you draw their hammers somehow to be good cards. Jane Foster was the only way to secure their hammers from the deck for a while safely. With King Eitri, we have another reliable way of at least grabbing one of our hammers back in hand so you can hear that sweet “Mjolnir, To me!” at the end of the game. Eitri can even help you draw a hammer the exact turn that you summon one of the Hammer Bros. It’s worth noting that it helps even on those games you draw badly, and you need to drop Thor or Beta on turn 5.
We had our Mad Titan triumphant return very recently, and perhaps King Eitri could help him out. We all know about those awful games where we don’t draw a single Stone from our deck in time while playing with Thanos. Well, guess what? The stones didn’t start in your deck, so you absolutely can draw one of them with Eitri. I don’t know how impactful that would be for a regular Thanos deck, but a zoo version could benefit significantly since the king himself is a 1-Cost card, meaning that he can be buffed by Ka-Zar and Marvel Boy, two staples of the archetype.
Another one? How about the guy that everyone loves to hate, Arishem? As you might know, Arishem shuffles 15 cards into the player's deck, and if you’re my opponent, I regret to inform you that you will never draw those cards—only Shang-Chis, Blobs, and Mockingbirds, I’m afraid. If you feel sad about never drawing your Arishem cards, you can use King Eitri to draw one of them manually. I don’t know how good drawing a random card you didn’t decide to be in your deck might be, but I will figure that out when I get my hands on Eitri.
Okay, last one. Since his most recent nerf, Loki never clawed back into the meta. Perhaps all he needed is a good forger? After Loki replaces your deck, you can activate Eitri to draw one of your opponent’s discounted cards. Perhaps it's a game changer, but it feels sad that if you don’t get Loki, King Eitri will be as useful as Misty Knight. Perhaps Loki and Arishem need to be together after all.
Do you know what’s worse than drawing a rock? Activate: draw a rock. I must say that if your opponent is playing a deck with either Korg or Rockslide, your Eitri will be extremely sad. Getting a rock from your deck while expecting a hammer might be one of the saddest experiences this game can provide you. It would be best if you didn’t experience that, but I must warn you to be prepared for such disappointment.
Dualgloves’ Day One King Eitri Decks
All the Hammers
As I said, the most obvious usage of Eitri is with the Hammer Gang. This deck tries to give you the most outs possible. No Odin? Misery. No jane? Eitri or Nico draw. No Hammer? Demons! I will try this one out at the Dinner, and hopefully, I won’t donate Bubs involuntarily.
Spin the Dog
Bonus deck: I miss Lockjaw
HammerShem
This is my attempt at using Eitri with Arishem. For good measure, we also have Loki, who should be great with Eitri’s draw. I can’t teach you how to play this deck because no one knows how to play with Arishem. Just pray for good draws and work that extra energy into power.
Who Made the Infinity Gauntlet?
I’ve heard that this guy is quite inevitable. Get your stones on the board. Double dip with Misery if you need the extra space. Marvel Boy gives power every turn. Eitri is here to guarantee that you pretty much never play those awful games where the Stones stay buried deep in your deck.
Return of the Prince
Let’s give Loki one more chance; he surely won’t trick us, right? When we don’t get any Loki shenanigans going on, this is a sera deck through and through. Counter your opponent’s strategies with your many tech cards. Just be careful with Alioth.
Happy Family
I tried making a functional deck with our entire Asgard family in game. Sorry, Hela, but you didn’t fit; maybe that’s why you became a villain. We have two lines with this bad boy. Do Hammer things or Loki things? Those lines don’t work together quite well, so you better choose only one.
Final Thoughts
I love free cards; more cards gives more options. Even if Eitri isn’t that competitive, I will gladly add him to my collection. Deadpool’s Diner was a lot of fun for me the first time, but I’ve heard many people had growing anxiety about the game mode, saying that it was too competitive and punitive to lose, and I agree. Second Dinner said they also agreed, so the Second Diner run should generally be laxer. Hopefully, I’ll see you there so you can donate some of your Bubs to me. As always, I’ll catch you on the next one!
