Daily Bugle
Get a copy of a card in your opponent's hand.
The Featured Location from July 5th, 2023 at 11pm EST to July 6th, 2023 at 11pm EST is Daily Bugle. As a featured location, it will have a 50% chance to appear in any ladder match. Now you must make a choice:
- Build INTO It
- Build AROUND It
- Ignore it
How to Build INTO it:
- Your eyes do not deceive you. That is a Snowguard. Pop her down while in Bear form on the 'now inactive' Daily Bugle and you will activate it a second time to receive another card from your opponents hand. This will be great with synergies below like...
- Sentinel is a defensive play that can synergize very well here. If Daily Bugle pulls your Sentinel, you've essentially locked that place in their opponents hand, which can help other cards like...
- Ronan will thrive with this advantage, similarly to Devil Dinosaur. Increased hand sizes = Increased Ronans & Dinos. Let's load those beefy turn-5 plays as high as well can with the help of Daily Bugle.
- The Collector feeds into all of this as we are likely to have many Devil Dinosaur pairings during this featured location, therefore lots of card generation & hand gains for Collector to enjoy. Remember, even if Collector ramps up to 4 power, that's still above average.
- Leader may confuse some people, but hear this out. Knowledge is power. So, if the Daily Bugle provides you with that insight, Leader can potentially duplicate it while adding an extra +2 power on the board simultaneously. Play with the idea that you're looking for the lead leaving turn 5 to help secure that Leader play on 6.
How to Build AROUND it:
- Discard all the way. You got their card? Great. Don't want it? Kthxbye. Play a bunch of cards that will discard the joined card and build a discard deck that will thrive from it. This may be bold enough to include...
- Agatha Harkness. The agent of chaos. She's guarenteed in your hand on turn 1, and if pulled by Daily Bugle, now your opponent also loses that agency. Is it evil? Absolutely. Is it fun? Chaotic is more the word of choice here.
- Enchantress will probably play in big here as we are likely to see an uptick in Devil Dino and Ronan decks this day. Smite them with the Ongoing removal.
Since it is a location the activates and expires on its reveal, you can't destroy it.
But running Scarlet Witch or Magik will switch the now dead location, therefore creating another element your opponent may have to endure, which could be beneficial to you.
Deck Suggestion
Fury-ous Leader
- Hand size should be king overall during these 24 hours. Sure, some people will counter it, but I think the majority will embrace it. This deck should help compete and balance that.
- Mystique ends up with three major targets depending on your early draws.
- Darkhawk (if you draw Korg and Rock Slide early enough)
- Ronan (if you draw Korg, Rock Slide & Daily Bugle early enough)
- Devil Dinosaur (at any time with this deck)
- The Collector benefits from Maria Hill, Sentinel, Nick Fury & the featured location, Daily Bugle. Lots of ways to get to at LEAST 4 power.
- Zabu seems appropriate given the potential turn 6 backup plan of boosting up, or playing, Darkhawk with Rock Slide. Plus a mega ramping play could happen of Dino on 5 followed by Mystique & Nick Fury.
- Leader is always the goal fo turn 6. This deck plays well into early ramping power on turns 4 & 5 so Leader should be able to keep up.
- Ronan stays with the Darkhawk package (and in the magical case that Daily Bugle picks up your Sentinel to the opponent, can't complain with a free Master Mold lite).
