"I don't want to kill you. I want to leave this all behind. Together." - Maya Lopez, aka Echo
Lore states that Maya Lopez, aka Echo, is the adopted daughter of Kingpin. And much like the lack of respect for Kingpin in Marvel Snap, Echo's prowess has fallen upon deaf ears as well. Sadly, the overall concensus of the Marvel Snap community is nearly unaninimous: leave Echo behind. However, what if you didn't? What if you could make Echo standout as a "Daredevil" among your opponents? Let's see how...
Echo brings a unique mechanic to the game. Stopping your opponents Ongoing effects from working in that location is quite strong. Thinking of major cards like Devil Dino, Darkhawk & Cosmo, we start to see her upside. However, there are a few new ways we could investigate that strategy as well defensively too. So, let's look at Echo in a few different styles of deck and showcase her usecases.
Oh and let it bw known here first: Personally, I believe Echo is best used as a Tournament/Conquest card. Not Ranked. Remember, consistency is key. So chew on that while we look at the decks below...
As new cards and new decks come out on Day One, I compile a few select decks from the Snap.fan community that I think are worth showcasing and are worthy of much more playing and/or testing for Day Two. If you'd like your deck showcased, just build one here in the Snap.fan Deck Builder! After 24 hours, I go through play rates, win rates, cube rates, successful synergies, unique synergies, online content and more and pick out five decks that I think are worth talking more about here in our Deck Showcase.
With that said, here are five decks I think are worth highlighting after 24-hours of Echo:
#4 - Here. Take My Echo. - ItsGuestGaming
YouTube - Twitch - Twitter - Threads
- Yes, one of the best ways to use her is to yeet her. Using Viper to throw her to the otherside of the battlefield is a stellar way to deepen the pockets of your Sauron decks. No Sauron? No problem, now we have a multi-use case card here both offenseively and defensively.
- Since we're playing Viper, we can look to partner her with several other lauinch targets like Sentry's Void on turn 6, The Hood whenever & Ebony Maw for a lane lockdown on turn 3. Coupling this with the Sentry and Typhoid Mary 4/10 drops makes for some consistent strong muscle.
- Lastly, the elephant in the room. Patriot. Yes, he's flexible for something else. However, I largely found him useful as a backup plan to Sauron when I could setup my Echo to the opponent's side, play ongoings into that lane, and then Patriot Boost them on turn 5/6 (since Echo cancels out the ability entirely, it receives a boost from Patriot). So yes, the deck IS based on playing EITHER Sauron, or Patriot. Not both. But, that flexibility made this deck climb a few ranks yesterday. I also originally ran Lizard in replacement for Silk, so there's that substitution too for those who missed out last month.
#3 - Wodin Echo - TLSG
- This is pretty apparent as the primary use case for Echo. PROTECT WONG. Having that insurance that you will not be Cosmo'd because Echo will plock the Ongoing ability there is a stellar insurance case. So, this allows the consistency of Echo to be influential enough to warrant her position in the deck.
- Creating scalable reach using Storm & Jeff is crucial in this deck as well for both location control and helping to swing a location in your direction later on. I love this shell and expet to see it a lot more in Ranked mode vs conquest given the novelty of Echo.
#2 - Echo Destroy - ChaosPro
- One of the most unique uses I've seen for Echo, so far, is the protection she provides in destroy decks. Combo Destroy can be one of the most exciting moments in Marvel Snap. However, when interference comes from BOTH Cosmo & Armor, having the security of Echo brings that element of disruption out of the mindset and creates the kaboom that this archetype needs.
- Seeing the divulgence of even Echo > Electro > Nimrod > (insert killy thing here) built into the shell that then could explode an even crazier turn 6 play makes me excited to try this deck on ladder.
#1 - Hela Discard - ninaisnoob
- Given the average cube rate of successful executions of standard Hela decks, his one seems like a no brainer. One of the biggest gripes on Hela decks is having the forecasted play of Invisible Woman and then tucking MODOK and Hela, two On Reveal cards, behind it. One well placed Cosmo and the match is finished.
- Now, with Echo here to create a more secure second play line of 'hide behind me' for MODOK & Hela, the consistency of this deck increases trememndously and creates, in my opinion, the primary use case for Echo in today's meta.
