Today’s featured location is Project Pegasus! This article will focus on the best cards that synergize with the location, some of which you may not have thought of!
The first thing that comes to mind with Project is 6-cost cards. Having access to 5 extra energy allows us to play more of the most expensive and most powerful cards in the game, and we’re kicking off with what is literally the most Powered card, The Infinaut.
Infinaut’s is at its best with a turn 1 Project Pegasus since you haven’t gotten a chance to play anything yet, which allows you to start the game by slamming down 20. This is only a 17% chance to happen each game, but you can still plan on playing a turn 2 Infinaut by skipping turn 1 and hoping that Project Pegasus shows up at turn 2. Luckily, there’s a deck that likes skipping Turn 1 already to buff Hulk, which acts as a nice backup plan as well! I think this Infinaut Hulk list from LambySeriesGG is a great start! Sunspot + She-Hulk gives another alternative to interact with Project Pegasus as well.
Another large 6 to start your games with is Destroyer. A little more flexible, Destroyer won’t have anything to Destroy when played early, which is another great way to mitigate his drawback.
In addition to also being a Sunspot High Evo deck like above, this list runs some other fun interactions too. Project Pegasus allows for early Professor X, which can win you locations as early as turn 1. Because you’ll always have more than 5 Energy, you can slide a Nebula Sunspot or even Cyclops into your Professor lane at the same time. You can also Professor a location while Storming another to make the game quite tough for your opponent.
Legion opens up some truly bonkers lines though, allowing you to triple dip on Project Pegasus. If you’ve got a Sunspot in play, it will also get the +10 power at the end of the turn you play Legion! A turn 3 Project gives you a total of 8 energy, allowing you to Storm + Legion and create your own TVA game (where you still have Jeff, Sunspot, Nebula, and High Evo cards to grow.)
This video features a deck including many of the key cards highlighted in this article, all in one Project-Pegasus-focused deck, leading to some absolutely crazy games!
Note: Since recording this video I've added Odin to the deck which has added to a number of EXPLOSIVE draws. I'll be uploading another video tomorrow that includes him and leads to even bigger Sunspots!
Other Cards that Benefit from Project Pegasus
There are some cards in Marvel Snap that become even more useful the earlier they’re played, and Project Pegasus can help with that.
Negatizing your deck as early as possible makes your draws better for the rest of the game, and while Sera hasn’t seen much play as of late, giving yourself a 1-sided Elysium is definitely Snap worthy! As a backup plan, using Project Pegasus to simply play Iron Man is never terrible.
A use for Project Pegasus you may have forgotten about is Agatha. The location acts as a free way to get her out of your hand and contribute 14 power to the board. This strategy is maybe more fun than competitive, but it’s nice when Agatha gets a little spike in power from a featured location!
I’d be remiss not to mention Galactus in this article, as a former Galactus main. Turn 1 Galactus off of Project Pegasus has won me many games. The best lists today are probably ones that also look to get priority turns 1 and 2. Alioth is at its worst today, as players can slam huge power early in ways that Ali can’t predict, which means your own Alioth should be enough to close most games.
New Combo Possibilities
+5 Energy also opens up brand new possibilities. Onslaught + Mystique to make a huge Mrs Marvel is something that quickly comes to mind. The extra Energy can also be used for Doctor Doom or Leader to be retriggered by Odin or to drop a Knull to later be eaten by Arnim Zola.
Hela Consistent is currently one of my favorite decks. The extra energy could give the deck some additional flexibility, as it’s already full of 6-cost cards to take advantage of Project Pegasus, including the Infinaut mentioned at the top of the article. The energy can also be used to play out the deck’s backup plan without Magik of Living Tribunal + big power.
Bounce can be yet another fun strategy today. While this archetype often plays much cheaper cards, the extra energy allows you to make some crazy combo plays, including reusing Snow Guard Bear to retrigger Project Pegasus multiple times!
