The best thing to be doing here is playing cards that can add a bunch of power elsewhere with On Reveal abilities. The strongest options here are, Tiger and Doctor Doom which then get to transform into a new expensive card.
Tarnax Negative
Here’s a sample list with some other fun options, including the Panther Zola combo, another way to take advantage of dropping Electro into Tarnax. This list is a little silly, but can pull off some INCREDIBLY powerful combos with and without Tarnax IV.
Surfer Deck
Silver surfer also presents an interesting option today. Firstly, transformed cards in Tarnax, like Ironheart and Crystal, will still be 3-cost, so Surfer can still pump them. Surfer too can be played into the location to spread power elsewhere and then likely contribute additional power to Tarnax.
Move Deck
Move strategies can also access Tarnax while keeping to their typical play patterns- except they won’t be able to drop a Kraven into Tarnax (at least not easily). Move isn’t typically the best strategy, but today it can allow you to stick to a consistent game plan.
What won’t work with Tarnax!
Don’t get tricked here! This YouTube Short also includes examples of all of these things in action!
Don’t play Absorbing Man after you’ve just played a card into Tarnax. Note: This can copy a transformed card’s ability!
Because the cards you play transform, I’m expecting Werewolf to NOT jump to the location, similar to how it won’t move to a Demon transformed by Nico’s spell. Note again: If the transformed card also has an On Reveal, this will move (even if the original card didn’t have an On Reveal).
This isn’t Quantam Tunnel! Tarnax is stronger than the Professor and will transform him into something new!
