Brooklyn Bridge and you
Fun fact: Brooklyn Bridge is a real place you can actually visit and have a taste of its wonderful traffic. So, if you’re interested in experiencing a real-life Marvel Snap reference, you can find it in New York; it's always there unless Magneto has a problem requiring a bridge-sized solution...
One thing that stinks about it is the traffic; because of that traffic, playing cards there will be rougher than usual. Let's have a look at the location on Snap:
Oh boy… You can’t place cards on Brooklyn Bridge two turns in a row. That is a restrictive yet strategic location—I like it.
Let me exemplify: if you play any number of cards on Brooklyn Bridge on turn 1, only after turn 2 will you be able to play again. If you decide to play a card on Brooklyn Bridge every single turn that you are allowed, you will only play on even or odd turns. In that case, it’s probably better to play on even turns so that you’ll have the option of playing there in the turn of the game. One note is that Brooklyn Bridge doesn’t restrict how many cards you can play, only on which turns.
Now, with that info, do you think you’re ready to deal with the traffic on the bridge? I surely hope so because the location will be open for transversal on the 11th. Also, it will be a hot location, meaning it will be part of around 50% of the games on the regular ladder. But do not worry, my friend. You can count on your friendly neighborhood snapper to help you out with some strategies for that day.
Some decks will be more affected by this location. Don't even think about playing a Werewolf by Night deck; it will be impossible to bounce him around being allowed to use a location every other turn. Also, don’t count on growing a big Angela on the bridge, and please don’t play Shuri on the bridge, as you won’t be able to follow her up with a card to be doubled up.
What I truly want to play on that day is a Move deck. You don’t care much about restrictive locations with those slippery cards. Slide your cards on the bridge like they have their own lanes to avoid traffic. Also, during that week, Madame Web will be the Spotlight card; I think she’ll be right at home with the Brooklyn Bridge on the location. She’ll be great with cards like Human Torch, Dagger, and Vulture. If you want to do some wacky table tennis shenanigans, you can play with Hercules as well.
Don’t like move? Okay, we can figure out something else.
How about conquering the bridge with tokens? You could play a Sandman-Ultron deck that is always efficient, powerful, and ignores restrictive locations. Those Ultron Drones are made in America, so they love the presence of Patriot. Get them together, and it's hard for your opponent to beat you if they are caught by surprise by the ton of sand. There is a new version of that deck running Symbiote Spider-Man! If you grab the battle pass, you’ll have some fun with him.
Being so close to the water, it's no surprise that Namora could be a powerful choice for the bridge day. You could follow her game plan without being deterred by the traffic jam since she only cares about having a single card in each location where you don’t play her. If she doesn’t show up, you can follow the alternative route of Wong stuff with White Tiger, followed by the Allfather.
Surfer would be a fantastic choice. You can safely play the Broodlings for the 5th alien invasion on New York that week. Killmonger would have the time of his life doing what he does best with so many people running a ton of 1-Cost cards. Also, if you’re lucky, Makkari always has a ⅓ chance of speeding around the bridge.
You could try some lane change shenanigans. Legion could be hilarious with this location. If you have priority and play him on the Brooklyn Bridge on turn 5, you could lock your opponents from playing cards on the other recently built bridges by Legion, the Architect. That would be incredibly funny!
Another card that would be great on the bridge is Thanos's bluest daughter, Ms. Nebula. If you get her a cab to that bridge, your opponent won’t be able to play on her location every turn.
I think this is enough to help you navigate that traffic jam. How about checking some decks?
Brooklyn Bridge Decks
Pogo Tennis
We are starting with a heavy dose of Hopium on the new card. I believe Madame Web will be strong enough to carry you hard with your move cards. Double their move power with the help of Hercules. Just… Be careful with Shadow Kings. Spider-man 2099 is here as our only disruption, so use him well. After Araña releases, slot her in. She might elevate this deck even further.
I'm Gonna Put Some Dirt in Your Eye
Bully Macg– I mean, Symbiote Spider-Man is here to win games, Activating him to get double Doom Bots on the last turn is, Spectacular or even Amazing. If you do that powerful turn 6 after playing Sandman, there is very little your opponent can do. The only thing to be careful with this deck is your odds of Iron Lad copying Ultron.
Wong Time, Wong Place
Another deck that just got improved with Symbiote Spider-Man; he acts as a pseudo-Odin to retrigger some powerful On-Reveals that this deck has. Remember to set up your Wongo-Combo at a location that isn’t the bridge, or you might have a hard time.
Just Surfer
It's just a Silver Surfer, literally. Pay close attention to Red Guardian, or as I like to call him, “The Deactivator.” He’ll be solid against Madame Web, Araña, Patriot, and any cards with a powerful effect but low power. Everything else is standard Silver stuff. You can always replace any three-drop with another one to suit better against the meta.
Brotherly Bond
Have you grabbed Wanda’s twins? They work great together! If you manage to complete Wiccan’s quest, you’ll probably have priority and a ton of energy. If you want to be funny, you can use Legion on Brooklyn Bridge to jam the entire game into a complex roundabout of bridges you and your opponent can only play every other turn. If your opponent is locked to a single location on the last turn, you can finish their hope of winning with Alioth.
Afterthoughts
Brooklyn Bridge is an interesting location. I’m not a fan of restrictive locations, but this one seems interesting. Luckily, it will be a rare location, so it will not appear that often if you don’t like it. Hopefully, nothing bad ever happens on that bridge to leave a bad impression.
Hey Gwen, what are you doing there?
