Introducing Thunderbolts Tower, Stark Tower's evil cousin. After Turn 5, it gives all cards in its lane -2 Power. Do you want to know how to counter the Masters of Evil's headquarters? Stick around to find out!
Cards That Synergize With Thunderbolts Tower
Of course, the card released the same week is one of the strongest synergies with this location. White Widow can throw the Widow's Kiss to the opponent's side of the board. While you play White Widow on the same lane, the main issue arises when the opponent is forced to play more cards into Thunderbolts Tower to alleviate the Kiss' debuff.
As an obvious pick, Luke Cage ensures none of your cards at any location lose Power. As such, you can put as many cards as you want into Thunderbolts Tower and Luke whenever and wherever without worrying about the incoming debuffs after Turn 5.
Wherever there's free negative Power, you can expect the goblins to be there. Once you play them on Thunderbolts Tower, you'll get +2 Net Power for each Goblin played.
Naturally, you can include Cost-cutting cards like Ravonna Renslayer to make the Goblin duo easier to play.
Annihilus' Junk archetype seems to be the most dominant deck in handling Thunderbolts Tower. For starters, you can put cards like The Hood directly onto this location and use Annihilus to kick him to the opposite side. Alternatively, you can use someone like Debrii and put rocks onto the boards that'll have negative Energy after the Tower's effect, making them enter Annihilus's range.
Decks To Use For Thunderbolts Tower
Sera Surfer
This deck has two game plans—Surfer's buffing frenzy and Hazmat's debuffing streak. For the sake of this location, I recommend going with the Hazmat route to showcase Luke Cage's potential.
This deck is highly competitive, with a solid 54.91% Win Rate and a 0.47 Cube Rate. It should easily net you wins in games, including and even excluding Thunderbolts Tower. Be warned, though, that Sera Surfer is notorious for hogging lanes, so do manage board space effectively if you don't draw Luke Cage.
Toxic Surfer
Toxic Surfer is another deck highlighting Luke Cage's importance, but unlike Sera Surfer, it focuses on spreading negative Power to your opponents. With a 0.31% meta share, 51.36% Win Rate, and 0.28 Cube Rate, the deck is still strong but nowhere near Sera Surfer's stats. Therefore, I consider this a good alternative deck rather than a full replacement.
As always, you can use Luke to mitigate any debuffs coming your way from Thunderbolts Tower or any other source while making your opponents suffer with Hazmat, Man-Thing, and Shang-Chi.
White Widow Controls Their Junk
Primarily used as a clog and lockdown hybrid, this deck features tons of cards you can play into Thunderbolts Tower, including the aforementioned White Widow, Green Goblin, The Hood, and even Polaris to make sure the opponent doesn't recover from the debuffs they'll get!
Cannonball and Professor X also work strongly together in Marvel Snap. Towards the latter half of the match, Cannonball can blindside your opponents. Cannonball is another card that can sneakily push an enemy card to Thunderbolts Tower.
Junk Cannonball
Staying in the mid-30s regarding Win Rate and Cube Rate, Junk Cannonball is a great alternative to the previous deck. Again, this utilizes both clog and lockdown, and instead of White Widow, you get to use Hobgoblin.
Here, you can put cards like the Goblins, The Hood, and Debrii's rocks into Thunderbolts Tower while Annihilus pushes your remaining negative cards to their side of the board. Additionally, if the Tower appears on the rightmost side, the Sentry's Void becomes another target for Annihilus. This is a solid deck and a great matchup against other meta decks like Living Tribunal.
Conclusion
Wrapping things up, I hope you enjoyed reading the article and gained some insight and knowledge regarding which cards to play at Thunderbolts Tower. As more debuffing and clogging cards come into Marvel Snap, they'll likely integrate into this location. Look for these archetype-specific cards in future releases and develop your strategies accordingly!
