The last season of the year is here! Say hello to our neighbors at Marvel Rivals, a brand new game that will be the center focus of our season. If you’re interested in PVP shooters, go check it out some time. So, without further ado say hello to Galacta, Luna Snow, Peni Parker, Doctor Doom 2099, Bruce Banner, Rocket Racoon and Groot. Get ready to blast the competition in December!
Season Pass Variants
Marvel Rivals is bringing their striking signature yellow into our game with these amazing variants for Hela and Doctor Strange. Funnily enough, the main character of the pass will feature a chibi variant from the always amazing Ryan Gonzales. Galacta’s Rivals variant is for the moment, datamined for a future spotlight, so hang to your seats if you want all the Rivals variants.
Season Cards
The daughter of Galactus is way less menacing than her dad but don’t you dare underestimate her! As a 4-Cost 6-Power card with the effect of buffing your first card played every turn while she is on the board. Basically she is a 4/12 if you play on both turns following her with the potential of giving you more power if played earlier or in longer games. She reminds me of Gwenpool, who do you think will be better?
I’m sorry Luna but that is not a cube! Luna is iceskating into battle as a 3-Cost 5-Power card with the On-Reveal effect of adding an Ice Cube on both sides of her location. The Ice “Cubes” give their owners +1 extra energy and shatter when their side of the location is full. Is she the next big Ramp card? How can we take advantage of her extra energy without allowing our opponent’s to do the same?
Penni Parker is from a different dimension and so is her condition as a spider-person, go watch Spider-Verse if you haven’t yet. Penni Parker will be a 2-Cost 3-Power card with two different effects. Firstly, the On-Reveal of adding SP//dr to your hand, secondly, whenever Penni merges with any card, she grants the player +1 energy on the following turn. SP//dr is a 3-Cost 3-Power card that works greatly with Penny, since she has the On-Reveal effect of merging with a card on her location and also giving the card the ability to move next turn. Wow, what a complicated duo right? Is it time for Agony to shine with Penni?
Doctor Doom 2099 is here to create the Doom Archetype! He is hovering menacingly in the distance as a 4-Cost 2-Power card with the effect of adding into the board a DoomBot 2099 every time that you play a single card in your turn. Those DoomBots 2099 are the real danger here, they have 4-Cost and 2-Power and all of them will have the ongoing effect of granting all other Dooms and Doombots +1 Power. And yes, the original Doctor Doom and his bots will get the extra power.
Yeah, yeah you wouldn't like him when he is angry. Apparently being wasteful with your energy could make him very angry. Bruce is bringing his most elastic purple shorts and will be a 2-Cost 1-Power with the effect of having a 25% chance of hulking out on every turn that you don’t spend your entire energy. We all have our “25% chance trauma” with Danger Room so we know how skewed 25% could be. Is he bringing the High Evo package?
The first ever Duo card! Rocket and Groot will enter with guns blazing as a 3-Power 3-Cost card with the ability to steal 1-Power from every card that your opponent plays on their location, also, you will be allowed to move it once. Two characters and two powerful effects. Will they not sleep till Brooklyn or will they be sleeping on the wheel?
You’re in the wrong season mate! Well, whatever, hop in. The newest symbiote in town will be a 2-Cost 2-Power card with the Activate effect of inflicting one of your opponent’s cards in this location with negative Power that equals that of Lasher. Interesting right? Let’s buff him up and see how much damage he can do. If you’re interested, go play High Voltage that is finally coming back this month!
High Voltage is Back!
Danger, Danger! The community’s beloved gamemode is making a triumphant return on December’s 28th. I hope you haven’t deleted your old deck. Get your big cards ready and come win big with all the extra energy. Same amount of rewards as last time, like I mentioned previously, Lasher will be the top reward but you can see some extra goodies along the way, including a new Spider-Man 2099 variant that we can barely see in the video.
It looks like this beautiful piece of art by Ken Lashley, but I might be wrong. We’ll know for certain when the gamemode arrives.
