We've just got an avalanche of new Snap content between Deadpool's Diner, Alliance, and Leagues, but the Snap community's appetite is like Galactus. We hunger for more! What's coming up in Snap? We've got abilities on the Symbiotes for October, November’s theme seems set, and… did Snap just spoil Marvel Rivals’ release date?! Your resident future season detective at Snap.Fan is on the case!
Symbiotes
We now have abilities for the Symbiote cards that are expected to comprise the October season, all of which look incredibly strong. Start saving caches now!
Cards
I think Scorn is a great addition to the discard archetype, and I should see it play right away. Misery is like an Odin that destroys. Scream is a much stronger way to counteract all the move cards running around than Kingpin and could be an important counter to the September card Madame Web. However, the card I'm most excited about is Toxin! As a fan of the bounce archetype, I think he'll be useful right away and may change how we approach it. I am also very intrigued by Agent Venom's and Anti-Venom's deck-building potential; I expect both to be quite powerful once the right decks are found for them. Suppose there's a beneficiary or synergy focus for the season. In that case, cards with low base power but strong effects, like Arnim Zola, Knull, Cassandra Nova, Sage, Spider-Ham, and White Tiger, can all benefit from various new cards.
Two additional Symbiotes, Agony and Lasher, appear as newly referenced cards. Are these destined for a future season? Direct to series 3 cards? Diner rewards? We don't know yet.
Asgardians
But that's not all we've learned! New card images were added for a trio of cards that seem to confirm what we already suspected from a bunch of datamined titles—November will revolve around the realm of Asgard!
I also expect some combination of previously datamined cards will join the three above along with newly referenced Laufey and that we'll get Thor, Odin, and Loki variants for the season pass, conquest shop, and newly released variants
Rivals Season?!
Last, we think we've uncovered something surprising about the December season. Newly referenced cards in the data files include Doom 2099, Peni Parker, Galacta, and Luna Snow.
That might seem like a random assortment of characters, but each plays an important role in the upcoming NetEase and Marvel Games collaboration, Marvel Rivals! Now, this could just be the Marvel Snap team showing excitement for this new game, but given how much they knew about the contents of the Deadpool vs Wolverine film, we suspect this could mean Marvel Rivals is targeting a December release date! The Second Dinner team is pretty plugged into other Marvel projects, and this could be an official collaboration. Recent murmurs pointed to an early 2025 release for the PVP shooter, but maybe things have aligned to allow a slightly earlier release. It's also possible these characters could be saved for a January season to coincide with a January Marvel Rivals release.
There were also some other interesting newly referenced cards, such as Bruce Banner, Rocket and Groot, Ares, and Tombstone. Is Bruce Banner a card that transforms into Hulk? How will a new Rocket and Groot card be implemented?
Future
What else does the future hold?
Referenced cards like Tombstone, Toad, Stryfe, Goblin Queen, and Mephisto still don't have a clear seasonal fit, but maybe they'll be the basis of a villainous season at some point. Also, we have yet to see more cards that feature the new keyword Activate. Maybe some of the Asgardians will have it, or some older cards (looking at you, Zabu) will gain it in an upcoming patch. The Disney+ show Agatha All Along premiers on September 18th. We're getting quite a few spooky variants like Zombies and Peach Momoko “nightmare” variants, and I expect there will be more Halloween tie-ins in some way. Captain America: Brave New World, Daredevil: Born Again, and Thunderbolts are all slated for the first half of 2025, and Second Dinner has shown they love tying future seasons to MCU projects, so bear those in mind for the themes of future seasons and events.
