Hello fellow Snappers!
Drewberry here, and I'm back to preview the upcoming SERIES 4 card: RAVONNA RENSLAYER
Here's the most important piece of information about Ravonna: She will always be relevant. Strong? Weak? The meta will decide these factors, but for every single card released, nerfed, or buffed with 1 or less power, we will hear "That could work in a Renslayer deck". Zabu, Silver Surfer, and Cerebro are prime examples of community reactions when specific cards are released or changed. They are deck-building cards. While I don't believe Ravonna will have an immediate impact due to her timing (Mobius M. Mobius next week), I believe she has a lot of long-term value for players who buy her early.
Here is a list of ALL the cards currently in Marvel Snap that Ravonna can discount:
Details:
- 1-Costs excluded due to Ravonna’s ‘Minimum of 1’ tag.
- Knull is excluded because he currently accumulates power in hand.
- 26/235 Cards
Let's find out if Ravonna Renslayer is a SNAP or PASS.

Ravonna Tips & Mechanics:
- Accounts for active power, not base power. If a card is buffed in hand past 1 power, they will not receive her discount. The opposite (debuff) is also true.
- CAN stack with discounts such as Zabu or Sera as long as it is not below 1 cost.
- Ravonna will NOT discount Knull unless he has 1 or less power. Currently, Knull tallies his power total in hand as cards are destroyed; this is confirmed to eventually change.
- If a 2-Drop is discounted by Loki, Ravonna will NOT reduce that card to 0. She will account for the current cost of the card, and her minimum of one tag will apply.
Ravonna Renslayer Theorycrafted Decklists!
Cerebro-3 saw a resurgence this season as a solid counter to Loki. Mostly due to running Shadow King, who shuts down Collector or Prof. X to restrict their late game plays. Well, Shadow King has been buffed, and Ravonna seems like a great way to play Cerebro + Mystique on turn 4 behind the invisible woman. We're not discounting much with Ravonna here, but Zabu has proven that an energy cheat only needs to cheat out a few cards for a powerful return.
This deck gets wrecked by Cosmo, but unfortunately that happens with any On Reveal list, and right now Cosmo isn’t very popular, so maybe it has a chance! The idea here is that there’s a lot of great On Reveal cards to pair with Ravonna, and it can create a very powerful line of play. T3 Ravonna, T4 White Tiger, T5 Arnim Zola, T6 Odin... could be a lot of fun, maybe clunky and underwhelming, but one of the first decks I fell in love with was a White Tiger Odin list early in Series 1. It’ll be nice to bring it back for a while. Green Goblin is great as a cheap option but conflicts with Ironlad, who is the superior card in this list, so if you want to swap him:
Green Goblin <-> Dr.Doom
Good Cards = Good Times. What if we swapped out the Zabu package for a similar package with Ravonna? Not as flexible and slower, but targets a few power-play cards that Zabu otherwise could not. Now on turn 6, we can look at an Ironman Mystique play or use Mystique to copy Darkhawk or Ironman sooner while still being able to play out some of our stronger cards later on. Top it off with Dr.Doom as a finisher, and we can get to some surprisingly high power totals across the board quickly.
A spin on classic discard! I've seen many discard lists use Zabu to discount Dracula and Hellcow, and I think adding in Ravonna to discount Dracula, Morbius, Angela, & Collector seems even better! All cards that have proven to be strong additions to the classic discard package reap the benefits of becoming cheaper to thin the hand and guaranteeing your discards hit the right cards. All the while building up a strong amount of power on the board. Even using Ravonna to discount Morbius seems like a worthwhile play to make sure he's on the field before you play MODOK.
SO. Is Ravonna Renslayer a Snap or a Pass? This is a challenging decision in my eyes because I believe it greatly depends on your current collection level and the quantity of tokens you have saved up. Ravonna will be a recurring card in future decks, of that I have no doubt. She is by no means weak, but currently lacks sufficient cards to be a necessary piece in many builds. If someone wants to discount Darkhawk or Dracula, they can run Zabu; if you want basic discounts, you can run Sera.
That said, as a SERIES 4 card costing 3000 Tokens and one that will be sure to return value for months to come, I consider Ravonna Renslayer a... SNAP!
