The Celestials’ Finest Marvel Snap Season
Get ready for a season of cosmic proportions! The ancient beings known as Eternals are about to join the fray with Arishen, the Celestial! Gilgamesh, Thena, Sersi, Makkari, and Phastos are joining the ranks. Who’s going to be the most powerful? The most desired?
Season Pass Variants
We got an awesome mix of different art styles for this season pass. Francesco Tomaselli's first piece of art in Snap is his amazing portrayal of Gilgamesh, the new season pass card. Gamora’s swashbuckling variant is the first art by Cory Smith in the game. Blade is done by Mateus Manhanini, who has several Hellfire Gala variants and has his incredible Thor that was given as a login reward a while back.
Season Cards
Ultimate Power! Gilgamesh is a 5-Cost 7-Power that On Reveal gets +1 Power for each of your other cards in play with increased Power. Do you think Devil Dinosaur is big, perhaps Ronan? Gilgamesh can get bigger. As we saw on the developer update, Ongoing effects count, so he’ll probably find a home in Zoo decks with both Ka-zar and Blue Marvel. Maybe some other strategies involving self-buffing cards like Angela and Sage. There are many possibilities for this particular strong guy.
Say Hello to Angela². Thena is a 2-Cost 1-Power card that receives +3 power for every turn that you play, exactly 2 cards. She is similar to Angela but at the same cost, and the possibility of scaling is quite high. However, Thena demands that you play consciously if you want her to go big and strong. play more or less than two cards, and she won’t do anything. What kind of tactics will appear with this powerful goddess?
This is my most anticipated card of this season! Sersi is a 5-Cost 7-Power card with the unique On Reveal of transforming your other cards in that location into brand new cards with 1-more cost. I think she will find a cozy little home with the Junk archetype as a possible secondary way of getting rid of The Hood, The Void, Illusions, and Rocks by transforming them all into useful cards with Sersi’s effects (imagine transforming your void into Iron-man). Or perhaps transforming a full lane of Broods into 3 different 4-Cost cards? What can’t this girl do?
Makkari is coming fast! She is a 3-Cost 3-Power card, which seems a bit weak compared to all these crazy 3-Costs we got these last few seasons. However, she is free! At the end of every turn, if Makkari is in your hand, she goes to the board. Is a free 3-power on the board worth the slot in your deck? I have no idea, but her home will probably be with our patron of 3-Cost cards, Silver Surfer.
Talking about Silver Surfer… Phastos is a 3-Cost 3-Power card with two possible On Reveal effects: give each card in your deck -1 cost or +2 power. Toss a coin every time you play Phastos to see if he’ll give you power or a discount. As I mentioned, he will fit right in with Silver Surfer; both Broods and Sebastian Shaw would love his extra power. Can you think of other decks that would welcome this guy?
He is big, he is bad. Is he a Big Bad? Arishem is the first 7-Cost card in the game. You would think that he would portray more than 7-power, right? He does two particular things when he starts in your deck: he gives you one extra energy and shuffles an extra deck of cards into your deck. Do you like variance? Having to think on the spot? Using card combinations that no one thought possible before you made it a reality? Arishem is your guy. I don’t think he’ll be competitive, but he will be crazy fun to play with!
