Thunderbolts Marvel Snap Season
Queue up the evil laughter. Marvel Snap's April 2024 season is Thunderbolts, which starts on April 2nd, 2024. A new set of cards will be released this season, including Baron Zemo, Red Hulk, US Agent, White Widow, Red Guardian, and Valentina. Moreover, you can expect various rewards with the Premium Season Pass, such as variants from Viktor Farro, including the cards Abomination, Baron Zemo, and Taskmaster, new albums, locations, and much more.
Season Cards
The Thunderbolt's season pass card is Baron Zemo. The enjoyer of Turkish delights is a 3-Cost with 5-Power that On Reveal recruits the lowest-Cost card from your opponent's deck to your side of this location. Baron Zemo represents that new direction on milling but could represent a gameplay shift on aggressively thinking about board space. With the last season pass card, Hope Summers, being an energy battery, and now Zemo placing 2 cards at one location for the cost of three, we could start seeing full boards more frequently. Whatever the future holds, all hail Zemo!
Red Hulk will be released in the first spotlight caches for the Thunderbolts season. Red Hulk gains +4 Power when your opponent ends the turn with unspent energy if he is in hand or play. Getting Red Hulk to gain the +4 Power once should be attainable in most games of Marvel Snap. Mobius is common in the current meta in Marvel Snap, so the Wave ideas with Red Hulk might run into that counter quite often. An idea that intrigues me with Red Hulk is the Sandman pairing. I also think pairing Red Hulk with Zemo could be a slept-on combo because if you take low-cost cards from an opponent deck that may not have many low-cost cards, they could be forced to feed Hulk power by being unable to play. Red Hulk looks like the strongest card on paper for this season.
I am Iron Man? It's more like I am US Agent. US Agent is set to come to Marvel Snap on April 9th as an Ongoing, which states that 4, 5, and 6 Cost cards here have -3 Power. US Agent is a welcomed edition to affliction-based deck lists and has some cheeky interactions. Do you want to protect your 12-power card? Slap US Agent in the lane and watch their Shang Chi sit there just looking pretty. Cope Cope Copium.
How many Series 5 cards have you counted by now in the Thunderbolts season? All of them are! January 16th was the last Series 4. Anyways, White Widow On Reveal adds a Widow's Kiss to your opponent's side of this location. Remember what I said about the full boards? The Widow's kiss could be the kiss of death for what your opponent was attempting to accomplish in other lanes if this is played early. If you play it late, a 2-Cost for essentially 6-Power is formidable.
The Soviet's Captain America is set to arrive in Marvel Snap! Hopefully, we will get his emote in the season pass as well.
Red Guardian is a 3-Cost, 3-Power card that On Reveal afflicts the lowest-Power enemy card here with -2 Power and remove its text. A lot is going on here. Of course, you can go for the tech or enabler cards like Armor and Patriot, but you can make a huge impact on Living Tribunal game plans by removing Iron Man's text while making him a -2 Power.
Valentina is the master of the double cross. On Reveal, Valentina will add a random 6-Cost card to your hand, and it will be given -2 Cost and -3 Power. The opportunities are endless! Well, it's not endless; there are more than 27 different scenarios. What is your ideal card to receive from Valentina? Let me know in the comments.
New Locations
Gift your opponent something nice! Nobody wants a Widow's Bite or Kiss. Spread the positivity. I don't want the Hood, but I will gladly take a Demon.
What an interesting location to play around. Moving cards into this location with a King Pin down could be quite interesting.
Leagues (Testing only available in specific European countries)
Described as a 30-person leaderboard where players within the leaderboard play against each other to gain rewards and a ranking out of the 30 participants. I am intrigued to get more details about this, but I hope the gold refresh shown in the developer update doesn't ruin the experience. A couple of things to note is that the 30-person leaderboard might be a 24-hour event, and it specifically says to win cubes. It will be interesting to see what strategies come from this, as I assume you will want a deck that incentivizes early snapping.
New Albums
Future Villians Album Rewards (Releases on April 12th)
'Cosmic Companions Album Rewards (Releases on April 19th)
Kim Jacinto Album Rewards (Releases on May 3rd)
