Here's everything we know so far about Snap's upcoming seasons. Remember that everything here is unconfirmed and based on assets datamined from the game files. Everything ahead is SUBJECT TO CHANGE. There are spoilers for future Snap content ahead.
A future season will appear to revolve around different Spider personas and Symbiotes! This season will most likely feature a new card mechanic!
As a reminder, August is Young Avengers season, and June is Deadpool vs Wolverine season.
Young Avengers
We finally have full abilities for the Young Avengers, including Kate Bishop's arrows. Kate seems incredibly strong, as does Marvel Boy. I think Wiccan is underrated, but Hulkling and Speed seem too weak. Remember that these cards are still undergoing internal testing and are unlikely to be released exactly as we see them now.
July will see the introduction of character albums. It's not clear how exactly they work, but there are sets of Reacts in the files that will be among the rewards for them. Apparently, there will be bonus progression tied to limited-time variants you may have (e.g., bundle variants). With character mastery being scrapped, the rewards that were destined for that system are being shifted to albums, which is a bit of a letdown. It is great that these rewards are still being distributed, but albums aren't a particularly dynamic and fun part of the game and are overly prescriptive. They will likely only cover a few characters per season and will not reward splits or avatars.
Deadpool vs. Wolverine
The Deadpool & Wolverine film releases in theaters on July 26, and we'll kick off a Snap season themed around it in July. There are already quite a few assets in the game related to this season, including an exclusive card back for the Deadpool’s Diner game mode, which presumably launches along with this season. We also see albums related to Wolverine and Deadpool, as well as a React set for each. An America Chavez album is set for August. We don't know if additional progress for limited-time variants will be implemented with these albums or further in the future.
One exciting thing is that the Spotlight Variant for Cassandra Nova is no longer marked in the files as a Spotlight variant. It is labeled as Promo. This is because it will be a reward in the new Deadpool's Diner mode! Presumably, Cassandra Nova can be unlocked with tokens (though possibly only at a later date), or you can unlock her via the Diner. We expect the base variant to be unlockable at a lower level on the Diner track, with the variant being the final reward, but this is unconfirmed.
Another Spider Season!
September appears to be themed around Spider personas & symbiotes. So far, we have datamined cards for Scarlet Spider, Scarlet Spider Clone, Symbiote Spider-Man, Anti-Venom, Agent Venom, Araña, Madame Web, and symbiotes Toxin, Scream, Misery, and Scorn.
Madame Web is an interesting inclusion, and I'm betting we'll get some cheeky references to the recent Dakota Johnson film, like a title about researching Spiders in the Amazon. Here's hoping the Madame Web card does something truly weird.
Scarlet Spider, also known as Ben Reilly, is a welcome addition to the game. He's likely to be a source of awesome variants both as Scarlet Spider and in his more recent look as Chasm. In the files, there is also a Scarlet Spider Clone token. We don't know how this will be generated yet. I'm guessing it will be a token that moves. A 4 or 5-Cost Scarlet Spider that spawns a Nightcrawler or Jeff-type token would be pretty cool.
Araña is another popular Spider character by the name of Anya Corazon. I'm guessing it's a low-cost card of some kind.
The Symbiotes
My initial theory when I first saw the Symbiotes was that several of the symbiotes are parts of one card, maybe with Symbiote Spider-Man or Anti-Venom being the main card. Perhaps something that changes in hand, like the initial Snowguard design. However, the problem with that theory is that the Symbiotes in the files all have separate origins. I think that would be my theory if Riot, Lasher, Phage, Agony, and Scream were simultaneously spawned from the Venom Symbiote.
With the recent inclusion of “a new card mechanic” in the most recent roadmap, I feel reasonably confident that the Symbiotes will be the first cards with this new mechanic. What will it be called? Something like bond, grow, or join? Given that Second Dinner said it would be an additional keyword such as Ongoing or On Reveal, expect it to be something relatively generic and logically apparent to new players. Let me know your guesses in the comments!
My current prediction is some mixing system. If you've played the games Infinite Craft or Little Alchemy, I imagine something like that with the mechanics of Hulkbuster. If you add a Symbiote card to Venom, maybe you get Scream, who spawned from Venom. Adding one to Carnage could net you Toxin, his most powerful offspring. Scorn is a techno-organic Symbiote so that it could be related to pieces of technology in the game or tech-related characters like Forge or Sage. Anti-Venom came about when Mr. Negative came in contact with remnants of the Venom Symbiote. This could be a standalone card that synergizes with Mr. Negative or maybe the result of a combination. Misery in the comics is a hybrid of Carnage and Anti-Venom.
Agent Venom is the result of the Venom Symbiote bonding with the classic Spider-Man character, Flash Thompson. He later bonded with the Anti-Venom Symbiote to become Agent Anti-Venom.
Gorr
It should be noted that there is also a reference to Gorr in a title in the files coming in October, so it feels likely that we're getting Gorr and other cards with Halloween vibes like Mephisto, Witchfire, Goblin Queen, and Toad in October. This Spider season is set for September. There are a lot of Symbiote-related titles and even more that reference Jeff. Are we getting some kind of Jeff event?
Oh, and we might be getting a replay feature soon?! There's a new folder in the files referencing replays.
As for November and December, we don't have any good leads. X-Men ‘97 was popular enough that I wouldn't be surprised if they took some inspiration from that. Perhaps an X-Men villains season is in the offing. Another likely avenue is a Fantastic Four season featuring secondary characters and iconic villains. We don't know much yet, but you'll likely hear the first news about them here at SnapDotFan!
