I'm a big believer in Nebula to the point that I think although there are a number of cards that have great synergy with her, they will be completely unnecessary to play. I think that if you play Nebula on Turn 1 and then commit nothing else to that location until turn 5, you will have either a very large 1 drop or an opponent who hard committed to a single location so you can steal the other 2. That said jamming her into an already good deck and calling it innovation isn't very exciting so what I've done instead is taken one of the more flexible decks that exists and jammed her in along with some synergy. So let's go over the cards I picked.
Storm & Goose - These are the cards I've decided to use in order to help Nebula shine. Both lock down locations in different ways but after we build our own deck around them we can mitigate their symmetrical nature.
Lizard - I don't want to play ARMOR in this deck. Now my guess for the early season Meta will see most people running either Nebula or Killmonger so I sort of feel like my hands are tied. What I want to do is play Lizard since most decks won't be able to easily fill the Lizard location while also playing to the Nebula path each turn. And since I want to do that I will and just accept I'm punting against Killmonger but it's probably wrong.
Star-Lord - One last card before we move on to the meat. This deck need 2 drops and he has synergy with Nebula. I like Star-Lord I want to play him and while I'm not sure he's the best I'm curious how playable Nebula makes him. For those wondering why not Rocket, that's the one concession to Killmonger I will make.
Silver Surfer & Brood - With Goose and Storm locked in I was trying to decide how I wanted to fill out the rest of the deck and Surfer is what I decided on, which makes Brood an auto include as well.
The Other 3 Drops - This is the magic of Surfer decks, any 3 drop can call it home it just comes done to your preferences. So if you think I've included one I shouldn't have then go ahead and sell me on yours and which of mine you would replace, until then though here are my choices. Mister Fantastic - great way to cheat power into other locations. Rogue - interaction for opponent ongoing cards. Juggernaut - general interaction and combo with Storm. Groot - If I don't play him now with Nebula when will you play him. Lastly Polaris - good value but probably the easiest flex slot.
So that's the deck, admittedly a bit of a quick one but surfer decks aren't that hard to build. A couple notes on play, first try to prioritize getting down Goose over the other 2 drops also making sure to separate her from Storm. Be on the lookout for cards that signal a deck may be running one or more powerful ongoings, a tempo rogue isn't the worst thing in the world but it will feel like it if your opponent plays an Iron Man or Dino the turn after. Make sure your careful playing Juggernaut on the final turn, If you have a Storm or Goose path barely locked up make sure you won't cost yourself the game.
Anyway I hope you enjoy and let me know how you do. I'd especially be interested to know if you stuck it out with Star-Lord or if you traded him out for a more conventional 2 drop. Either way good luck snapping.
