The Game Plan
With Agent Venom being added to the game, I wanted to play a list that didn't need him to function, but would seriously benefit from his help. When I started thinking about the Darkhawk/Devil Dinosaur package, it occurred to me that almost all those cards are under 4 power, and this list just came together like magic.
This strategy is nothing new, but essentially we're looking to increase our hand size with Hawkeye Kate Bishop and Agent Coulson, increase our opponent's deck size with Korg and Rockslide, and end the game by slapping down a big Darkhawk, Iron Man, or Devil Dinosaur to win two lanes.
The Decklist
- Kitty Pryde is a really great curve-filler and boosts up our Collector like crazy.
- Korg is pure disruption and power for our Darkhawk.
- The Collector isn't going to win you games on its own but builds value in a lane so that our big 5 cost cards can be played elsewhere.
- Hawkeye Kate Bishop is an amazing card on its own, but also feeds into our Collector/Devil Dinosaur plan.
- Agent Venom provides a buff to all but 1 card in this list, and feels really incredible at setting up an Iron Man + Mystique or just having a buffed board. You'll never be mad about playing Agent Venom, especially because he's a 2/4 on his own!
- Mystique synergizes with all of our 5 cost cards and can really make it easier to spread power on turn 6. Playing her with a few arrows from Hawkeye Kate Bishop or just a Rockslide can be insane.
- Cosmo is an excellent tech piece in this deck to protect one of our 5 cost cards and stop our opponent's gameplan. We can also play it on turn 6 with any of our 3 cost cards, which feels great to shut down a big combo.
- Rockslide is big disruption for our opponent and boosts our Darkhawk significantly.
- Agent Coulson is a good addition in this deck because he feeds into Devil Dinosaur and The Collector while giving us a lot of surprises we can play around with. I've had an extra Iron Man or Darkhawk be generated before, which is insane.
- Iron Man is our first stat-stick in this deck, and I find he's most often useful in our Collector lane to push it over the edge while another 5 cost or Mystique handles another lane.
- Darkhawk is our second stat-stick, and since we only have two support items for him, he's often smaller than our other 5 cost options. However, he's an amazing tech against Thanos and Arishem and his support pieces are already hurting our opponent's draws, so it works really well.
- Devil Dinosaur is our third and final stat-stick. There are few situations where it won't be 13+ power thanks to Agent Coulson or Hawkeye Kate Bishop. It can also hold down a lane while we throw another 5 cost or Mystique in another lane.
The Wrap-Up
This list is doing incredibly well for me, and with Coulson and Cosmo, I constantly feel like I'm still in games I would have lost. Agent Venom feels really, really great in this list and I'm really happy to have a good version of Okoye, lol.
